Chef John's Turkey Chili

So good. This is a very forgiving recipe. I feel a little guilty rating it since I had to sub out the chipotle powder (I didn't have any and a big snow storm was limiting our options to travel to the store.) instead, I used smoked paprika - I know they have different tastes but it seemed to work. Will make it with the chipotle pepper powder next time, but even with the switch, this has to be one of the best chili recipes I have tried.

Sugarless Bars

This is surprisingly sweet! For those who are staying away from all forms of sugar, including what fruit has, this might not be the recipe for you. But for those who want to limit added sugar - this is definitely a winner! The bread has a more heavy cake or breakfast bread-like consistency and came out a tiny bit sticky for me, but I didn't mind. It was very tasty and fits our needs to reduce added sugar perfectly. The only thing I'd like to cut in the future is the amount of butter, but it definitely adds to the flavor. Also, be careful because the recipe directions still say margarine. Overall, though, I followed the recipe exactly minus the walnuts - I forgot to buy them! Will certainly make again.

Feta Pesto

This is a very good recipe. I didn't use any artichoke heart (I wasn't sure if I needed fresh or canned, and, either way, I didn't have any on hand), and I made it with the dry sun-dried tomatoes with a little extra olive oil. It came out thick but very tasty. Just realize, a little goes a long way with this sauce. I made an entire 16 oz whole wheat pasta and ended up using only (roughly) half or less of this sauce. I also didn't need much salt or pepper either - the feta cheese, parmesan, and tomatoes added their own flavor.

Apple Breakfast Bread

This is the first time I have ever reviewed a recipe. I absolutely loved this dish, especially because it is so easy to tweak, which I did: I love bread with spice (especially holiday-season spices!) and so I added 1/4 to 1/2 tsp nutmeg, ginger, and allspice (each) and I added an extra tsp of cinnamon. As per a suggestion before, I checked the bread at 45 minutes and found it needed a little more time in the oven. In total, I cooked the bread for 50 minutes. I also shredded the apples, which when added to the batter, made the whole thing a little easier to work with. This time around, I am adding an extra apple, which I chopped.
