Cake Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2009
This is my new favorite recipe! First I used it with carrot cake, cream cheese frosting and vanilla almond bark and that was very, very good. Then I used the recipe with German chocolate cake, coconut pecan frosting and chocolate almond bark. I am not a chocolate person, but that was out of this world. Everyone who has tasted these think they are wonderful. I took these to a meeting and even had a guy come up to me the next meeting weeks later to say how great they were. I love the versatiity of the recipe. One is only limited by his imagination. My most recent effort was with cherry chip cake with cherry icing stirred in (both Betty Crocker) and a half marachino cherry inside, then dipped in the vanilla almond bark. I also dipped the cherry chip cake mixture in chocolate icing, creating a "chocolate covered cherry" confection. Thanks so much for this recipe!

Smoked Salmon Mousse

Reviewed: May 15, 2007
We have a Kentucky Derby party each year and are always looking for new recipes. We have a caterer, but still do about 2/3 of the food. I used the salmon mousse in the filo shells. It was a big hit. Even the caterer asked for hte recipe.

What a disappointment! I was expecting great things since other reviewers raved. Sorry! This just didn't do it for me.

Great Pumpkin Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
OOPS! In my haste, I mixed all of the ingredients together. This was terrific and certainly did not need icing. I will use whipped or vanilla ice cream next time. I made cup cakes and they are bite size, so really don't need anything extra. Everyone at work loved them. I made the recipe again (the right way) and it was very good.

OU Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2005
I have a very similar recipe that is a standard for me and is always very well received. This recipe is so much better than the normal milky corn puddings. My recipe also has one egg and 8 oz, of sour cream. That moves it from 4 star to 5 star.

Reuben Dip

Reviewed: May 21, 2004
I am told this recipe was terrific! I served it at our annual Kentucky Derby party. It went in a flash! I am preparing it for our annual neighborhood garden tour. I will definitely try it this time! I served it with cocktail rye bread and rye Triscuits. It was a hit! I was looking for a substitute for baby reubens, which were somewhat difficult to serve for a huge crowd.

German Apple Cake II

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
A friend brought this to a party. She asked me if I had tasted it and said it was "to die for." She was right! I hounded her until she sent me the recipe. I have made it several times and everyone loves it! When I was out of town, I was delighted to find the recipe on my wonderful Allrecipes site. Thanks for sharing! My friend suggested icing the cake while it was hot. That works well.

Apple Pie in a Jar

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
I was delighted to find this recipe last Christmas as I give gifts in a jar to people with whom my husband works. This was a variation on the "cookies in a jar" theme. I have used it since as just a side dish, cutting down on the cornstarch. It freezes well and is a wonderful treat. Thank you.

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
This recipe is fantastic. I have made it three times and had rave reviews each time. The third time I prepared the sauce ahead of time and froze it. With minimum fuss, I wanted to treat my parents who live 600 miles away. I thawed the sauce on site and served with the tenderloin purchased there. It was still wonderful! Thanks so much for this very special treat. I recently had beef tenderloin in a restaurant that wasn't nearly as good.

Orange Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2003
I loved the taste and the ease of this recipe. I used it with the Orange Rosemary Chicken recipe I found at this sight. I also added sauted onion and celery. I have always gotten compliments when I served this rice dish. I love the mandarin orange pieces in it. That makes it visually appealing as well.

Pineapple Carrot Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
This was just okay. I was trying to duplicate the carrot/raisin salad from Chic Fil-e-lel (sp.). I was disappointed. I thought the pineapple yogurt was the secret ingredient. I was wrong. This was very sweet (which is usually okay with me).

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
I have fixed the fruit salsa, which is a terrific accompaniment. However, usually I just fix the cinnamon chips. My friend asked if the chips kept well. I told her I didn't know, we had never had any left! This recipe is a staple in our household. I just served this at our Kentucky Derby party. I used pinking shears instead of my usual pizza cutter. A friend said that the fruit salsa was good, but that he REALLY liked the cinnamon chips with the chocolate that I had for dipping strawberries and pineapple. Still one of my favorite snacks.

Fried Corn with Bacon

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
This recipe was great! I was leary of the bacon, expecting that it would make the corn too greasy, but it wasn't at all. I will fefinitely fix this again. My husband loved it, too.

Chicken Pot Pie I

This recipe was wonderfully easy, which is why I chose it. I would thin the cream of chicken soup just a little the next time I fix it.

Apple Cake in a Jar

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
This recipe was terrific. I filled five quart jars and enjoyed the little bit left over as a side dish for lunch. This apple mixture was very tasty and did not have one spice too dominant. I was pleased to have a variation on the "cookies in a jar" gift that I usually have on hand as an emergency gift. I was so pleased that I plan to fill more jars this weekend! Thanks Julie.

Orange Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
This recipe was wonderful and wonderfully easy. My husband loved it. He said he had never tasted chicken so tender. I used eight boneless chicken breasts. I sliced a breast to take to work the next day. It was not overcooked when I heated it in the microwave. I have passed this recipe on to coworkers with my recommendations. Kudows to DEERPANT.
