Red Lentil Curry

Reviewed: Jul. 3, 2007
this is so good! the flavour was perfect, the amount of spice was perfect, and it was easy to throw together. really good w/basmati rice, yogurt, and naan. i've been making this for about 3 years now and haven't changed a thing.

Spicy Pan-Fried Squash

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2007
this was a pretty good vegetarian filler for tacos ... i might try some different spices next time for more flavour, but it's a good start. i'll probably make it again. thanks!

Roasted Spicy Garbanzo Beans

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
yummy. i might play with the spices a bit for more flavour, but very good as a snack. i like them leftover cold, too!

Garlic Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
this was just fabulous. better than restaurant garlic bread. like others suggested, i lessened the amount of garlic salt because i don't like much salt, and substituted some garlic powder. this is now the only way to make garlic bread!

Arrabbiata Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
this sauce was delicious. i added more red pepper flakes for extra hot. i also added fresh parmesan in while the sauce was simmering instead of sprinkling it on later, just to thicken the sauce a bit. i also let it simmer for longer to really let the flavours mix. lovely! it is especially delicious over spaghetti squash.

Crispy Vegetable Pakoras

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
these were pretty good -- could've used more spice, i thought. i'm going to play with different vegetables next time; i tried cauliflower, onion, and broccoli, the last of which i didn't much care for. i found the batter stuck to the veggies really well.

Butter Chickpea Curry

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
pretty good. the problem i had was that i served it with a couple of other very spicy dishes, and the flavour was simply lost among them. i liked it more the next day, but i think i would have to kick up the spices a notch if i were to make it in combination with any other indian foods again. that being said, it was tasty and quite easy to make. thanks!

Indian Relish

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
fabulous, so tasty and spicy! i was worried when it was cooking because it smelled so vinegary, and i hate vinegar, but i loved it and everyone raved about it. thanks!

Indian Eggplant - Bhurtha

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2008
this was good, but it wasn't particularly flavourful, or at least not what i was looking for. everyone did eat it though, and it certainly wasn't bad, but i'm going to keep looking for an eggplant recipe that i really love.

Quinoa with Sweet Potato and Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
this was very good, and easy to make. i'd never cooked/tasted quinoa before, and was pleased; it did however take more like 12-13 minutes for my quinoa to cook instead of 20. i added extra cayenne for more heat, but that's simply personal taste; thanks for this recipe!

Garbanzo Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2008
this was nice tasting, and quick to throw together; it's a good base that can easily be altered to one's own tastes.

Spicy Lentil Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2008
this was pretty good -- i agree with those who said it's a good base recipe to play with and make your own, and that it tastes better chilled.

Zucchini Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2008
very yummy brownies! there is no recognizing the zucchini. i'm not sure if they're too cake-like or anything ... i think that just comes down to personal taste and how you like your brownies. anyway, i substituted apple sauce for half of the oil, and put the peeled zucchini in the food processor to really make it invisible. the brownies came out flavourful and moist, and i will certainly be making them again. thanks for the recipe!

Peanut Butter Cup Cupcakes

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
fabulous! only change was i used margarine instead of shortening, and didn't add any salt. i will definitely make these again; my roommate and i both agree you must have a big glass of milk with them! thanks for the recipe!

delicious and addictive! i added a lot more cayenne to make them spicier. i'm definitely going to try freezing them premade like another reviewer recommended. thanks!

Cheesy Cauliflower Couscous

Reviewed: May 7, 2009
this was not bad, but i would say that i'll use it as a base in the future, using perhaps a mixture of veggies and maybe a few more spices.

Sesame Udon Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2009
i also found that the recipe needed twice the amount of udon noodles to go with the amount of dressing. i used cayenne pepper for the hot element, and added julienned carrots. definitely let it chill for a couple of hours to let the flavours meld. end result: delicious!
