Asian Ginger Dressing

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2003
The only reason I didn't give this recipe five stars is I made the recommended changes that other reviewers posted. I cut the soy sauce to 1/4 cup. I used 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/4 cup sesame oil, and since my carafe was too small I didn't add the water. I did however have to stop myself from eating the dressing with a spoon. This stuff is great. Only additional change I would possibly make is to add more vinegar or less honey, I found it a little too sweet.

Italian Style Beef Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
I thought the taste was a little bland on this, but because my husband is so picky I didn't add the peppers which I suspect would have helped. The thing about this that I loved was it was so easy to make. I put the liquid in the freezer while I was shredding the meat and then skimmed the fat from the top. I then put it back in the crock pot for about 30 minutes to reheat. I will make it again simply because my husband liked it and it was easy.

Beef Florentine

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
I wanted to try this recipe since it was a lot like a canneloni dish my mom makes that takes all day to cook. I followed the recipe almost exactly except for using ricotta rather than cottage cheese. I found the meat mixture a little bland and next time I would spice it more. It was fast and easy though. My daughter also liked it, although my husband took one look and refused to eat it.

Grilled Asian Ginger Pork Chops

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
These were good. I didn't have any chili paste or orange zest and this may have intensified the flavors if I had used them. The nicest thing about the marinade was I had most of the ingredients on hand. I think I will pick up some chili paste next time I am at the store and give this another shot.

Asian Noodles

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
This was a big hit in our family. Even my 21 month old daughter liked it. The sauce is a little tart, so you may want to add some sugar. Because my husband and I are on diets I did not. I ate the left overs cold with some left over chicken mixed in and that was good too.

Tuscan Tuna Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
My husband really enjoyed this. It was a nice change from tuna salad with mayo. I used a home made italian dressing and will continue to do so as I do not care for store bought dressings (too salty). If you are looking for a change give this one a try.

Asian Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
I have to agree with other reviewers that the dressing was a little week. The taste was fine, but it was too thin and pooled at the bottom of my plate rather than adhereing to the salad. I used left over sesame baked chicken and canned rice noodles to save time and mess. I love the idea, but will replace the dressing with something else next time.

Baked Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
This was good, but not spectacular. As others suggested I did not use the salt and pepper in the flour. I also found that there was barely enough flour for two large chicken breats. I don't see how it would ever cover four. I used 1 T of soy and 1 T of sesame teriyaki sauce. There was really only a hint of flavor. I ended up cooking my chicken for the full 40 minutes, but I started checking it with an instant read thermometer at about 25 minutes. I did not bake my chicken in the soy/teriyaki mix either since so many complained of burning and I was not comfortable using sauce I had put raw chicken in to baste. I ended up using the left overs for a Chinese chicken salad and it was really good in that.

Chicken Salad Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Good basic recipe. Nothing that would be considered fancy or special. I have not made chicken salad before, but my husband liked it. I left the pickles out of mine and added some hot sauce. My husband said I could make it again if I wanted.

Italian Chicken Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2003
Standard pasta salad recipe with chicken. I would recommend using your own dressing, always tastes better that way. I usually add additional items such as cheese and veggies. The bow tie pasta works well though as it catches lots of dressing.

Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2003
I have a similar recipe using olive oil that I have previously used. I wanted to see if the butter would inhance the flavor. I like the regular Garlic Chicken also off this site better. Infusing the oil with the garlic gives it more flavor. I didn't find this had much flavor at all. I tried flipping the chicken as other suggested, but found I then simply had chicken that was soggy on both sides. I won't make this again.

Asian Barbequed Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This was my first experience with fish sauce. I opened the bottle and all I could think was this must be the nastiest smelling stuff ever made. Don't let that put you off though, because the steak ends up really tasty. I found the ginger and sesame to be the dominate flavors in the steak, but I did every so often get a hint of the fish sauce. I think it is something everyone should try for themselves at least once, but if you are not an adventurous person, this is not the recipe for you.

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
Good macaroni and cheese, was easy to make. I don't know how much of a difference all the different cheeses makes though. I only used Munster, jack and sharp chedder. I think the reason I will keep the recipe around though is it was so easy to make. Really quick too.

Asian Noodle and Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This was good, but I must have cooked too much pasta because I didn't have enough sauce. My salad was a little drier than I prefer. I will make again though, just reduce the pasta some. Since you need the Ramen sauce pack to make the sauce I can't really double it easily.

Simple Country Ribs

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This is a great rib recipe. I loved pre-cooking the ribs in the oven and just glazing them on the grill. Less chance for me to burn them. I ended up cooking my ribs about an hour. But they were still super tender and tasty. Make sure you get a good bbq sauce since the extra spice won't really do much if you buy a cheap sauce.

Kerry's French Toast

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2003
This is really easy and really tasty. I used the sourdough bread I had on hand with some mixed berry cream cheese. It was still good. Next time I go to the store I think I will get the stuff to try the recipe as printed. My 20 month old loved it and my picky husband asked for seconds. This was great, thanks Kerry.

Easy Cheesy Potatoes

These add up to their name, they are easy and cheesy. I baked in the oven, but other than that followed the recipe and they were a big hit. I will make again for sure.

Good recipe. Nice alternative to fried pork chops made with bread crumbs. I didn't bother to make the sauce.

Lemon Pepper Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2003
This was good, nothing spectacular. I deglazed the pan with a about half a lemon and a quarter cup of chicken broth. Really in the end it tasted like chicken picatta. I did pound my chicken breat thin so it would cook faster though.

Davy's Gravy

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2003
This recipe was okay. I personally found it a little too sweet, but my daughter loved it. I only made half a recipe so I used Cream of Mushroom soup only. I also didn't have any curry so I left that out. It got a little too thick, so I just thinned it out with some milk. I probably won't make again.
