Cabbage Beef Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2014
I had searched for years for this recipe!! We had this soup at Shoney's in Mobile, Alabama after working at an outdoor event in December. We were chilled to the bone and this just warmed us up instantly. I made this yesterday and DH loved it. My 87 yo Mom also loved it. A neighbor stopped by, joined us at the table and left with a "to go" jar of soup and a print out of the recipe!!We love this recipe. Thanks for a very happy end to our search for this healthy, warming, soup, NancyScott - well done

Chili Lime Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2014
This is the BEST dressing yet. I've marinated chicken and fish with it before grilling. Put it on "bowl" meals of salad greens, pinto beans, spanish rice, tomatoes, red onion, pico de gallo, and any other thing that strikes my fancy. This dressing gets better with time, so if spicy is not your thing, start with a lesser amount of red pepper flakes. My entire family loves it and requests it at almost every meal. - not breakfast, as yet - One daughter who lives out of state heard how great it is and requested the recipe after her sister told her how good this turned out. Thanks Amanda for a constant way to get salad and veggies on the table with loads of flavor.

Cherry Cobbler I

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
Well, Ms. Mary Lehmann, you have a winner. I've never considered myself a baker. Now my husband wants your cobbler every week - I can vary the fruit, but the rest MUST stay the same. Success, at last. Thanks for making me look so good on my first try!! Really easy. Followed recipe except for corn starch - had none, so I spooned flour over the cherries and stirred until covered. Crust was beautifully brown. Cherries were tart, but with just the right sugary syrup. This was exactly what we wanted. Thanks again, Mary for such a great recipe. PS. I used a plastic straw to pit my fresh cherries. Took far less time than my "pitter" tool.

Greek Couscous

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2014
Not only can all the cooking be done in the cooler hours- but this is such a versatile recipe. First time I made as written. No leftovers for lunches!!! Second time I doubled and served with grilled chicken for a light and healthy dinner. Tonight I added - must goes- from the fridge- half a yellow bell pepper, 4 radishes, half a red onion. Served with grilled fish. Wow. This is so good. My neighbors dropped by- thank goodness it's easy to double - Carol wants the recipe and John wants the leftovers for his lunch tomorrow. KenzieKook- Thanks for making me look so good

This is our new go to fish recipe. So delicious. So easy. Made exactly as written- except for fresh parsley. I think it was perfect without the parsley but will add to my list for next time. Thank you Kathy for a recipe that is delicious

Thousand Island Dressing I

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2014
I liked it as written - I, too, believe one should make the recipe as given. When tweaked, the entire fam loved it!! Actually had to get up from the table to make some more!! As suggested by others, added a bit more pickle, some S&P, and a pinch of dry mustard. Also, served as a dip for fried potatoes with the Ruebens. Great recipe. EASY and so good. The really great recipes, in MHO, are ones that are easily tweaked to one's own taste. Thanks, Cheryl, for such a great one.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2014
This is SOOOO good. We had steamed tamales, beans and rice with this guac. OH my - I am such a hit with the neighbors. Everyone had a great time and I had time to enjoy them all. Took the suggestion to save the pit and keep in the guac until serving - or after. So easy. So good. Thanks, Bob Cody for a keeper we all enjoy.

Spanish Cod

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
BEST FISH EVER!!!This is so good and so very easy. After reading all the reviews, I was able to assemble all ingredients and substitutions. The cod needed to be used. Now I cant wait to buy more!! My family demanded that this go into our rotation. What could be better than a healthy meal everyone eats. Leftovers? None here - plates were wiped clean with bread. Here are my changes - most due to pantry contents: Used 1 zucchini sliced and sauteed with the onion. Used a can of fire-roasted diced tomatoes - what i had. Added 2 Tbsp tomato paste to thicken sauce. Chopped 2 Tbsp capers, 2 Tbsp salad peppers, 2 Tbsp kalamata pitted olives for Italian veg salad. Served over couscous and a small salad. Thanks again for such a GREAT recipe which offers so many variations to taste and pantry content.

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2013
At my daughter and son-in-law's awaiting the birth of twin girls - their 3rd and 4th surprise. Cooking for my son-in-law is a challenge - he eats very little green. I'm hoping the smell of this alone will capture his attention as he comes thru the door after work. If this tastes 1/3 as fantastic as it smells, how wonderful. Will post results - other than tasting as I'm cooking - which is WOW. Don't know how or what I'd do without ALLRECIPES. Thank you GIGI9801 for an easy, healthful, tasty meal. A super HIT We all love this. It will get served often.

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
First let me say, I like the simplicity of this before even trying the recipe. Had everything we like in it. We live in a rural area, so quick trips to a market are not an option. This is SO good. It made my house smell SO good. It made my family SO happy. Only one problem - NO leftovers. Thank you for a fantastic feast on a nasty Sunday afternoon. Like others, the compliments, and requests for the recipe just keep coming. WAY TO GO Johnchandler. A big thank you from rural Texas is coming your way.

Greek Salad V by Boo

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2013
So very simple. So very good. Craved a good Greek Salad. This is a definite keeper. Followed advice from several others and used less oregano. Had only crumbled, but cannot wait to serve with a slice of feta like Cassandra had in Greece. Love this light fresh meal. I'm thinking of adding some grilled or boiled shrimp next time instead of serving as a side.Chef SuzyQ - thanks so much

Poor Man's Hamburger Steaks

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Great start for a meal to suit us all. Took lots of ideas from comments from others. Scaled the recipe for 4 - I had only 1-1/2 pounds of HB. Added a packed of AuJus gravy mix, subbed 3 cloves minced garlic for garlic powder. Sweated one yellow, sweet onion with minced garlic. Then added 1 can cream of mushroom soup, 1 soup can water, l soup can water, 1 t Worchester Sauce. Lots of black pepper as we like that. Served with elbow mac and steamed green beans. THE ENTIRE family loved every bite and wanted more!!! SO Easy, SO quick, and so satisfying. Thanks, Rhonda35 for a great recipe

Six Can Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2013
YES!!! Thanks Terryn for a great recipe. Like others, I tweaked to our taste. Exchanged one can of broth for a can of fat free cream of chicken soup. Exchanged black beans for pinto beans - thats what I had on hand. Started with diced onions, celery, and green bell pepper sauteed til soft in EVOO (about a cup total of the mirepoix). Had two huge cooked chicken breasts in fridge, so diced those. Thanks to others, I topped with monterey jack cheese, sour cream, and avocado. Also had limes - we love those - And made some Mexican corn bread. Quick, Easy and oh so creamy good. Look forward to a bowl (only one leftover!) for lunch tomorrow. Thanks again, Terryn.
