It’s the start of spring break from school and what’s the first thing out of your kid’s mouth when they get home?  “Can I invite some friends over for a sleepover?”  Followed up  by “Will you make breakfast stromboli for us?”So, the guests arrive and Mom heads to the kitchen to whip up some… MORE

About this Cook
I am ex-career woman turned professional household administrator. I enjoy learning new cooking techniques and preparing recipes that my family enjoys as much as restaurant food.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking sweet treats, especially most things chocolate. I am working on expanding my horizons on Chinese and Mexican cuisine. I love to grill outdoors, especially a good steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am full-blooded Italian and I enjoy making homemade pasta noodles with my mother. She is so fast and has just the right touch with the dough. I enjoy trying to master her techniques.
My cooking triumphs
I love to learn. My husband has given me culinary classes and books as gifts. One of my favorites was the science behind baking. Where I was able to experiment with the ingredients to customize a chocolate chip cookie exactly to my liking.
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger every meal I prepared was an adventure. I remember the pan of brownies where the entire pan came out as one piece and wouldn't break even when we threw it up against a brick wall. Then there was the gravy that exploded in the blender all over the kitchen. Yikes!

Slow Cooker BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwiches
We love pulled pork sandwiches, but not with the slaw. Also, we preferred ours with the sauce on the pork, not mixed in. The spices were good, I always add liquid smoke to my cooking liquid. This recipe is flavorful and lends itself well to use in Mexican preparations also. I used the pork to make pork nachos also. Easy clean-up using the slow cooker liner.

Baked Omelet Roll
I used a 9 x 13 metal cake pan, so I didn't have to worry about it spilling. Worked well, next time I will definitely line the pan with parchment to aid in the rolling process. I rolled the long side, which I recommend, it ends up longer and you get more slices that way. It would have been easier to roll with the parchment paper lining the pan. My guests loved it, it is very impressive. Also, it's a great way to use up what you have. I used corn, roasted red potatoes and pork tenderloin. (Leftovers from the night before). Chop your add-ins small and don't use too many, you need enough egg surface or it will break when you roll it. Loved it!

Wavy Lasagna with Italian Sausage and Marinara Sauce
My family really liked this lasagna. You will undoubtedly have some torn noodles. Use the pieces in the middle layers and set aside whole noodles for the top layer. I did pre-cook my noodles, so I did not cover it with foil and it baked with just a little crunch on the sides, just the way we like it.
