Happy Anniversary my friend.....

I left the Corporate world after working 22 years to stay home and run the household.  That was in January of 2002, and one month later I found and fell in love with allrecipes.com.  My first big hit was the Chocolate Trifle.  It has since become a family tradition, as well as, a favorite wedding shower gift, a trifle bowl with the recipe printed out.  I soon became to rely heavily on my new found friend.  So much, that people assume I get all my recipes on the site.

My family no longer thinks it's weird to have to take a picture of our food before we eat it.  I remember the day that I opened up my allrecipes newsletter and one of my pictures was featured with a recipe.  Oh, the thrill!  I forwarded the newsletter to my children and husband, oh so proud.  Then there was the day, that my son posted I was chosen to be an allrecipe brand ambassador on his facebook page like I had won Miss America.  Quite thrilling since he's away at college and when I do see him the most I get from him is a one arm hug.

Happy Anniversary allrecipes.com, I've enjoyed the last 10 years together and look forward to many, many more!

LOL, my boyfriend still thinks it's weird to photograph the plates. I wish I were better at it!

Nice Blog Carol. I sure get a lot of my recipes from AR and seldom am disappointed.

hehe. It's always nice when taking a pic of the food is just routine and not "crazy" anymore :) Or is it routine craziness?

I tried your Basmati Rice Pilaf recipe and wondered what kind of rice you used. It called for uncooked rice, but after 20 minutes the rice had not adsorbed hardly any moisture. Is there something else to the instructions that I missed? Normally I let uncooked rice soak in water for at least an hour and some times over night. Please let me know how you cook this recipe. ox7s9kjv@gmail.com Thanks.

About Me
I am ex-career woman turned professional household administrator. I enjoy learning new cooking techniques and preparing recipes that my family enjoys as much as restaurant food.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking sweet treats, especially most things chocolate. I am working on expanding my horizons on Chinese and Mexican cuisine. I love to grill outdoors, especially a good steak.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am full-blooded Italian and I enjoy making homemade pasta noodles with my mother. She is so fast and has just the right touch with the dough. I enjoy trying to master her techniques.
My cooking triumphs
I love to learn. My husband has given me culinary classes and books as gifts. One of my favorites was the science behind baking. Where I was able to experiment with the ingredients to customize a chocolate chip cookie exactly to my liking.
My cooking tragedies
When I was younger every meal I prepared was an adventure. I remember the pan of brownies where the entire pan came out as one piece and wouldn't break even when we threw it up against a brick wall. Then there was the gravy that exploded in the blender all over the kitchen. Yikes!
