I feel like I must have done something wrong here, even though I followed the directions to the letter. The brownies themselves tasted good, although they were extremely cake-like and crumbly--they fell apart when I tried to serve them. The frosting was something of a disaster. I made it in my Kitchenaid. For a minute or so it was just powder/crumbles, then it slowly started to combine into an extremely thick paste that was, out of the bowl, completely unspreadable even on warm brownies. My butter was definitely soft, but I wonder if it would have been better if I had started with it melted? I finally dumped it all straight on the brownies and let it sit there until it was soft enough to spread, but even then it wasn't really "right." I could possibly tweak this and make these better next time, but I will probably just try another recipe instead. The brownies tasted all right, but they didn't blow my mind enough to want to make me want to try to perfect the recipe.

Abalos-Style Hamburger Soup (Picadillo Filipino)

We really didn't enjoy this recipe. It was edible, but none of the flavors were really interesting. I regret adding the ground beef in with the vegetables and then adding the rest of the ingredients; perhaps I should have browned the beef in a separate pan, drained, and then added it to the soup. As it was it was way too fatty. We won't make this again.

Garlic Penne Pasta

This recipe was tasty, but the best thing about it is it is fast, fast, fast and easy! It used ingredients that we already had around the house. It was ready in minutes. We wanted a protein boost so we cut up some Morningstar Farms Chik patties and mixed them in with the pasta. The only other change we'd make is that we'd like to use a little less red pepper next time, to tone down the spice.

Chickpea Curry

My husband and I are always in search of recipes with the following qualities: quick, easy, budget friendly, and healthy. We also try to eat vegetarian at least once or twice a week. We like trying new flavors but do not usually cook a lot of curry-based dishes. We both found this recipe to be delicious and very filling. We served it over jasmine rice as another reviewer recommended. Now that we have all of the spices in the house (we only had to buy one or two items, I believe) then the only ingredients we will need to pick up to make this in the future will be the chickpeas and an onion. We will definitely be making this again soon.

Turkey Skillet Supper

Very tasty! Kind of like your basic turkey chili mac. The flavors were robust but not overpowering. For a lower-cal dinner, I found the portion sizes to be very generous.
