Saucy Beef and Vegetable Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2012
This was just ok for me. Pretty bland, but could be good spiced up a bit. I try to make by the recipe first. Little too much toppping for the amount of stuff. If I make again, will tweak with spices for sure. Thanks for recipe.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
Was glad I read the reviews first, otherwise dinner would have been wasted food. Made the sauce separately which made sense in order to thicken properly. Also allowed for taste test. As written, it is very salty and kinda of blah on flavor for us. I had cut back on hot sauce (1T on doubled recipe) as 4 year old was eating too. It was just a lot of strong flavors crashing into each other. I added a couple pinches of chinese 5-spice, another 1-2 T of honey to sweeten it up and 1-2T peanut butter. Viola! After lightly browning floured chicken (another necessity I feel), I added the very thick sauce, tossed to coat over the heat, and put over rice. I'm still stunned by the compliments from all including the grandson who normally just eats when he likes it or says I don't like it. Still used 4 large breasts cut up, and doubled sauce because I was putting over rice. 3 stars for the original recipe, as it is a good base...but, I would taste before coating your cooked chicken, so you can adjust if you want.

My Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2011
Sorry, but I did not care for this recipe! These were very bland, way too much cracker and just....plain. I thought I misread the recipe, but....alas, not. Don't understand the raves for this. All I could taste was cracker and onion. Even the cayenne was lost, and I added 1/2 again as much because we like spicy. It did have a nice crunch though. Even after soaking up all the oil in the pan! Won't even tweak this recipe; sorry!

Stuffed Mexican Peppers

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
Very good. Being Texan, it rang true for good mexican flavor, and am using the leftover meat in tortillas tomorrow for lunch. 5 stars beccause it's a dual recipe. Filling for peppers (any kind) and tortillas for an enchilada dish. I prefer a little spicier chili punch, so next time going to half and half the tomato sauce with picante sauce...just because, but will make again. Thanks for the recipe!

Autumn Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
Delicious! Made per recipe, and was glad I went with original ingredients. This is autumn in a muffin! Nice to know other ingrdients work as well, but I wanted something for cold mornings in the fall, and this combo of flavors did the trick! It's worth making at least once with no subs if you can manage it.

Slow Cooker Tamale Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
Just a suggestion "Kitchen" staff. This is a good base recipe, but is bland made as is. Mexican casserole might be better title as you will need the extra onion, pepper, salsa, chilies, etc. to taste well.

Double Quick Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2010
Yuk! I don't change recipes the first time I make them. Onion overpowered any yeast flavor. They're easy to make, but...yuk! No yeast flavor, texture OK, potao is no point because you're not going to save them. Sorry...I hated this recipe.
