Mizithra Browned Butter Pasta

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2012
I live in the Bay Area in California and Mizithra was difficult for me to find. Our local Trader Joe's did not sell it but just a few weeks ago I found it at our local Safeway grated in a 4oz tub. Hope that helps those looking for it.

Creamy Chicken and Wild Rice Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
I love this recipe, it is really warming on a cold night and I love semi-homemade recipes. I used a rotisserie chicken already cooked from the grocery store and just broke up the meat I wanted, white and dark meat. I saved the rest, bones and all, to make another soup or stock.

California Roll Sushi

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
I agree with a previous review, this is a great recipe for the beginner cook. I also took the advice of others & added salt to the vinegar. I also used real crab meat with a dash of sesame oil and chopped water chestnuts to give crunch, I added mayo to taste. Cooking is about creativity and doing what u like & enjoying what u create. Release the inner chef and go with it. Thank you for those who have shared!

Easy Corn and Crab Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
First of all, I wished that I had read the reviews before trying this recipe and took the advice of others who modified it a bit. I followed this recipe to the T and ended up with really thick chowder, too thick for my taste. I thinned it out at the end with more water. Boullion cube did not dissolve in the milk well, the amount of flour was took much, the potatoes did not cook in the microwave even in 45 seconds, I was so upset. My fiancee went out to get fresh crab and found that I had to modify the recipe so much that it broke up a lot of the crab meat. I definitely will make this again but not without some changes. Overall, great flavor!

Polenta with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2011
First of all, let me say avoid biting into it immediately after cooking and if you have a small apartment, open all windows and unplug smoke detectors. This was a delicious recipe! The tomato/sausage mixture was a little too "tomato-y" for me so I thinned it out with more water, I also used shaved parmesan. Simply delicious!

Beer-Boiled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
I really enjoyed this recipe, it reminds me a lot of Bubba Gumps' Shrimpin' Dippin' Broth. I used a Czech Pilsner beer and it was really interesting, I used more shrimp just to "dilute" the richness the butter introduces to the dish. Overall, I loved it and will be making again. I am interested though as to know what other kinds of beer did people use?? Thanks! . . . .p.s. great with lots of fresh lemon juice!

Chicken Arroz Caldo (Chicken Rice Porridge)

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
Very simple ingredients, BUT for those watching their sodium intake I found that you can use water instead of chicken broth because the fish sauce already adds salt plus I added a touch of Kosher salt. The bone-in chicken wings plus all the other ingredients adds lots of flavor. But if you're like me and hate rubbery, gummy chicken skins, I used skinless boneless chicken breast because the chicken broth adds lots of flavor. Thanks for posting this recipe.
