Mike...chef on the Beach!
About this Cook
I'm a lumber Broker of 26 years... was very good to me until the housing bubble burst! but I'm reinventing myself! I love to cook, I prepare dinner for my family almost every single day... Other days I get to go form some great spots nearby on the beach!
My favorite things to cook
I like to Stir-Fry, have many great Chicken, Shimp, Scallop recipes... I make a simple orange chicken that will nock your socks off! Great on the grill...Steak (Pittsburgh style of course!) Lamb chops...mmmm, BBQ, blackend fish... and an awsome Pad thai just to name a few!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Many goodies from scratch... usually with a flare of sweetness!
My cooking triumphs
Just hearing people brag about some of my dishes current and past! It's always nice to hear... right?
My cooking tragedies
One Thanksgiving early on in my 20's... It wasn't at my house and I really wasn't in charge, but 6 couples and no one knew how to make gravy... Well the turkey looked awesome... golden brown! not much in the way of drippings left... several of the girls were trying to determine how to make the gravy....the came up with the right plan, or very close... mixed up a great looking dark gravy from the remaining drippings, flour, cream..."Ok let's eat!" Everyone loaded up a plate of all of the goodness... then spooned the gravy all over the stuffing, turkey, and potatoes... we said our prayers... and everyone dug in...Trust me although this was almost 30 years ago... I can clearly picture in my mind the faces of each and everyone as they tasted the disgusting burnt flavor of the gravy made from the burnt drippings off of the turkey! Needless to say, after everyone went back to replace the initial serving which was unetible... there were were no leftovers and no one had any more gravy! I laugh
