About this Cook
I work part time, have two kids still at home and enjoy being a homemaker. I love to cook and bake for my family and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies and home-made breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Banana bread from scratch after school, chocolate chip cookies & milk when friends come over, home-made beef stew and yeast bread in the Fall, Saturday morning French toast and bacon, salsa/cream cheese dip and chips on Friday movie night, making home-made pizzas with the kids, Dad's grilled chicken in the Summer, Nana's yummy turkey on Thanksgiving, baking Christmas cookies for neighbors....
My cooking triumphs
After years of attempts, I finally figured out the combination to the best chocolate chip cookies ever. Now everyone requests them, from family to neighbors to school to church. The secret is using the right pans, not softening the butter, making sure the dough is the right texture, and not overbaking. Oh, and using REAL butter!
My cooking tragedies
:( Lol! I have had many, but probably the worst was inviting guests to Sunday brunch for fried chicken and the chicken wasn't cooked all the way through (and I didn't realize it). It was completely and absolutely disgusting!

Easy Alfredo Sauce I
I have had this recipe for years and it's ok but I just have to say I wouldn't dream of making an Alfredo sauce without adding some chicken bouillon.

Pork Tenderloin Diane
My family absolutely loves this recipe (and I have a teenage son who is extremely picky). The first time I made it, it was a hit. I did tweak it the next time by quadrupling the sauce. And now I add plain yogurt to it - it makes it creamier without the fat and tones down the sharpness of the dijon. I also prick the pork and sprinkle with meat tenderizer - oh man, is it EVER tender! After making this tonight, my son asked me to serve the sauce on the side with his hamburgers!
