I've been in the kitchen for as long as I remember. Growing up, my mother (who was a full-time homemaker) baked all of our bread, and always had some fresh cookies kicking around... I guess she wore herself out because, as soon as I was capable of more than just helping, about 10 years old, I was making everything from the cookies to our family Christmas dinners myself! I loved every minute of it, and I still do (lucky for Mom!). I have some lofty aspirations of attending Le Cordon Bleu in Paris or London buuuuuuut, my teaching degree might be the end of my education... At the moment, I'm simply enjoying having a kitchen all to myself!
My favorite things to cook
Good old fashioned lasagne, mashed potatoes, anything sweet!
My favorite family cooking traditions
***Chocolate cake for birthdays, YUM :D
***Every year I make my Christmas Shortbread in October, my boyfriend complains about the carols, but they just don't taste the same if they're not made with the appropriate background music! ;)
***Eggs Benny from scratch on Christmas morning, almost better than presents!
My cooking triumphs
My cheesecake is legendary. I can't take all the credit though, the original recipe was my grandmother's (although I may have tweaked it a bit)!
My cooking tragedies
Chicken Marsala... Mushroom gloop anyone?
