About this Cook
I am a Family and Consumer Science teacher who loves my job.
My favorite things to cook
I bake and decorate cakes and cupcakes as a side business. I enjoy making tasty meals that are fast and easy, but look like I've been cooking all day. I also love to experiment and create new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Canning tomatoes! Growing up in an Italian family, we would spend Labor Day weekend picking, preparing, and canning about 300 quarts of tomatoes to share for the year. We worked all day and into the night, feasting, and laughing. The smell of fresh tomatoes and basil was intoxicating.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for large groups of people with limited resources and equipment.
My cooking tragedies
Having a large, decorated cake fall apart in transit. One was a wedding cake . . . Good thing I always bring a "repair" kit. Bride was none the wiser.

Giant Chocolate Chip Cookie
This recipe is a favorite among my cooking students. We divide the dough into 4 equal portions and bake them on 9" pizza pans for 20 minutes. We use butter as margerine tends to spread more. (Perhaps that's the reason some are experiencing the spillage.) Each 7th grade student has their own cookie to take home . . . if it gets that far.
