Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2014
Everyone who tastes these cookies goes WILD for them. I'm convinced that the baking soda makes all the difference- I can actually see it transform the dough as it gets mixed in. Only changes I make are using milk chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet, and adding a tad more salt since I use unsalted butter. This is truly the best chocolate chip cookie recipe EVER.

Buttery Corn Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2012
I added ~1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper and baked it in a 12" iron skillet. When it came out, I drizzled 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of butter cut into dabs over the top. DELICIOUS!

Easy Swedish Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
way more "eggy" tasting than the ones my mom would make. Also seemed to be extremely sensitive to the heat level (the spectrum between "burning" and "not cooking fast enough" was very small).

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2007
after reading many reviews, I made the following changes for texture and spice: - boiled 2 bone-in chicken breasts with red pepper flakes and cummin then shreaded the night before -substituted 3/4 cup of half & half for 3/4 cup chicken broth (creamier texture) -blended then added an additional can of beans (thickness) -did NOT rinse beans and included syrup from can (also helped with thickness) -substituted 2/3 of a fresh jalepeno -omitted cayenne pepper (between the red pepper flakes in the chicken and the jalepeno, this was just slightly hotter than mild) -ganished with additional cheese and about 1/4 cup of fresh chopped cilantro It was a big hit and definitely one worth making again!

Party Punch I

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2004
very classy. I used white grape juice (does it matter?) and it turned out very well. I would recommend pouring the soda over the sherbert though for a more "even" foam.

Kerry's Beany Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
I've been asked to make this so many times that I'm almost getting sick of it. almost. This definitely makes my list of top favorite recipes for its taste, simplicity, and health value. Like others suggested, I, too, doubled the vinegar and halved the oil. Tastes great. Highly recommended.

Baked Fried Eggplant

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
Followed the suggestion to use a marinara sauce- it totally made the dish. I would not recommend this recipe without using sauce.

Caribbean Coconut Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
Great in theory, not so great in practice. Was I supposed to cut up the chicken breasts? I think it may have turned out better that way. Even with keeping it in the oven less time as suggested by other reviewers, the dish took longer to prepare than I expected with just ok results. Could have more to do with my cooking skills than the actual recipe though...

Awesome Korean Steak

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
Wonderful recipe. I've been introduced to this dish before by some of my Korean friends, but none of them could quite explain to me how to make it. Finally I can enjoy it for myself. I had made the same amount of marinade but only had 1/2 the beef. When the beef was halfway cooked, I added the extra marinade sauce and some cooked brocolli and it turned out great.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: May 16, 2003
for the health conscious- substituted vanilla soy milk; cut back a smidgen on the sugar and cocoa, halfed the butter and omitted the vanilla. not bad, and not too unhealthy either- although the untamed tongue may demand the full amount, if not a little bit more, of the sugar.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2003
interesting- I wasn't sure if I would like it, but because it sounded healthy, I tried it. Not on my top favorite list, but as far as nutrition and convenience are concerned (thanks for the advice to freeze them for future lunches) this definitely works.

Classic Whole Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2003
delicious, cheap and easy (so far as bread goes). I used soy milk and olive oil, and it still turned out great. (and I listened to the advice that this recipe only makes one loaf)
