Grandma Orcutt's Date Cookies
we really didn't like these. they had a weird sandy sort of texture and just didn't appeal to us. it was too bad, too, because we normally like dates.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake IV
Mine turned out sort of dry and sort of weird looking. My sugar burned a little, too. I used fresh pineapple instead of canned, which might have been my mistake. However, the cat got into the cake and thought it was delicious. Since cake isn't good for cats, though, I probably won't make it again.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread
A hit with my boyfriend and his friends! Our cat liked, it too! I thought it was a little bland, but that may be because I only used 1 tsp. salt instead of the 1 1/2 tsp. I used someone else's suggestion of cutting the oil to 1/2 c and using 1/2 cup applesauce, and that seemed to work well. I also only used 2 c. sugar, but that could be cut down, too, if the applesauce is sweet. I added raisins, which was nice. I made it in a cake pan because I only have 1 loaf pan, and it made a nice, big, dense, moist loaf. I'll probably make it again, but tweak the spices a little bit to give it more flavor.
