Scottley's Basic Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2012
I always get rave reviews when making this recipe. I can't count the number of times I've been told it's the best cake someone has ever had. It's great for sheet cakes or as layers. A nice rich buttercream, either chocolate or vanilla, pairs nicely with it. Be sure to sift the dry ingredients together. Otherwise, it can be very dense. But even then, it tastes marvelous. It's my go-to cake!

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2012
I usually don't review recipes, but this one was fabulous!!! Didn't have time to toast the almonds, but I'm sure that would make this salad that much better. Normally I'm a minimalist when it comes to dressing/sauces, but I was practically licking the bowl on this one--it's that good!! I did cut down a little on the sugar and oil, per other reviewers, but left everything else the same. Don't leave anything out--each ingredient adds another depth of flavor and contrast. You won't be disappointed!

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
Definitely not the most eye-catching dessert, but the taste more than makes up for the less-than-appealing appearance. I made this into a layer cake, covering it with a peanut butter frosting, and it was to die for!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars IV

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
These are always the first to go at parties, and no one can believe how easy they are to make. You can't go wrong with the peanut-butter/chocolate combination. One of my go-to recipes, for sure!

Irish Tea Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
I've made this several times, and it always turns out terrific!! Perfectly moist and flavorful enough to stand on its own; no need for frosting on this cake!
