Mayonnaise Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2014
I make these all the time! Good for breakfast or dinner, you can add stuff to take them up a notch, and it only takes a couple mins to whip some up, really, I have made these first thing in the morning, and before the coffee was done these were in the oven and smelling good. These are drop biscuits. The bad reviews, probably didnt realize that. Or they may have used miracle whip instead of mayo maybe. I have added more flour to these, and actually rolled, fold, and cut these as well, and that worked fine too. But as written, it makes a good quick biscuit.

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2014
I buy up bunches of ripe bananas at the grocery for 19-29 cents a lb and freeze them for banana bread. I tried this recipe for the first time, I added some cinnamon, and vanilla. It's a pretty good one. Takes extra time to bake but was pretty good.

A Very Popular BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2013
This is very tasty. Even though I made changes, it was great, and everyone loved it. I didn't have enough ketchup, so I used half a jar of salsa lol. I cut brown sugar down by 1/2 cup. I didn't add wirstishire so didnt add it, I didn't have dry mustard so used hot dog mustard lol, and I left out the hot sauce. I added 2 cups of water, put the ribs right in it, and boiled it a few hours. When it was all done, the sauce was perfect, the ribs were falling apart, and it was awesome!

Honey Dijon Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2013
So I didn't have dijon, so I mixed mustard, mayo, and honey with some spices, and it was amazing! I also cooked it on the stove top with a lid on the skillet. So changed it up quite a bit. I also added onion to it. This turned out great doing it this way. And the apartment smells awesome! Good stuff. Try it as directed, then try what I did. It's fun playing with recipes :D

Poor Man's Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
This was ok, but not much flavor. Bland hamburger, and bland breading. So I seasoned the hamburger with season salt, Worcestershire and fresh crack black pepper, same with eggs, same with flour, so it should have been over seasoned. But it was still kind of blah. I dont know what it needs, but it needs something. I will figure it out, and fix it. I bet it would be good with ground pork instead of beef.

Kansas City Style Barbecue Sauce with Truvia® Natural Sweetener

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
If you like sweet bbq sauce, this one will do it. But I cut the sugar down to 1/4 cup and it was still sickening sweet. Next time, I'll cut it even more. It's a good sauce, I liked it, got all of that sweet and sour tang and bite I was looking for, just too sweet.

Traditional Indiana Breaded Tenderloin Sandwich

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
Born and raised Hoosier. When we moved to North Dakota, most folks knew what I was talking about, but you can;t get them just anywhere here. Every restaurant back home had it on the menu. A good tenderloin is a BIG deal back home. Some places are famous just for their tenderloins. I may have moved out of Hoosier land, but I'm still a Hoosier. Where a tenderloin, is a sandwich, and we sweep the carpet with a sweeper!!! :D Long story short. Good recipe. I liked it.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2013
This was ok, I tried it, because I had some salsa I wanted to use up. It tasted good, had some nice flavors, but it was a bit too basic for me. Just meat and bean chili. Next time, I'll modify it and add some Hoosier fixins to it. Like corn, and macaroni. It's a good chili base. It would be GREAT on hot dogs, or with nachos, or even chili cheese fries. I liked it, but needs some more power arrr arrr arrrrgh

Double Peanut Butter Cake

It's not bad, but needs more peanut butter, and sugar, and a splash of vanilla. But it's not bad. Just not powerful.

Beef and Barley Soup II

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2013
I make this all the time. It's not quick, but it's easy. I boil some beef cubes for an hour, then dump in some water and beef base, a chopped onion, and a few cloves of garlic, and boil another hour, dump in a can of mixed veggies at the end, and it's so good. I also like to put a splash or two of Worcestershire in it for bite and twang. We love it. Great recipe.

Chicken Alfredo

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2013
I used celery instead of zucchini, and diced green pepper instead of red, I used a whole stick of butter, and a whole cup of whole milk. Needs some spicing up, for my taste, but this is an excellent recipe.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2012
Awesome recipe! Wife took the salad dressing to work with her, so I had to improvise, never made it before.. Dang was this gooooood.. I did not have dill weed, and it was still good without it! Made it like the recipe, just thinned it with milk to consistency I wanted.. Without thinning it would be great dip! Saving this for the future, way better than store bought.

Cheese and Broccoli Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2012
This is good, needs more salt, and less water for creamier soup.. It's a bit watery for us, we like it creamier so next time, I'll use less water, and more sat and pepper. Good recipe.. I did it all in one pot, no sitting anything aside. Was a 1 hour meal.. Update: Today I made it with a few changes to use up what I had. I used 1/2 turkey 1/2 chicken. Added some onion, and bell peppers, added a big pinch of basil, and parsley, and used sweetened condensed milk instead of cream. I also used Velveeta (generic brand) instead of regular cheddar, and what was left in a bag of mozzarella cheese. The family likes it. You can do all kinds of things with this recipe. It;s a great base for anything you want to do with it.

Made this tonight, and it got two thumbs up from all my ladies.. I added a pinch of creole seasoning to it. Everything else was by the recipe. Turned out great. Served with seasoned rice.

Cajun Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2012
Excellent recipe.. I had to use what I had on hand so I made some changes that turned out GREAT and my family loved it.. I used 7 bullion cubes and 8 cups of water instead of 6 cups broth.. I made my own creole seasoning and put about 3 palm full, maybe about 3 or 4 tablespoon. And instead of celery I dumped in a can of corn, and instead of cooking the rice separate. I dumped it right in the pot. It was soooo good. I saved it and will be making this again.. Oh yeah, and I used left over turkey from Christmas instead of chicken :D Waste not want not! Great recipe.. Thank you!

Cinnamon Apple Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
This was pretty good considering I didn't have brown sugar.. I used white. These would have been so much better with brown sugar. I will be making these again, and instead of the sugar/oil icing here, I will make a glaze to coat them with. These were super fast and easy to make.

Ive made this monthly, and its always great as directed, or with mods.. I usually make it with powdered milk, a bit more butter, and pepper, and I follow the directions on my chicken base.. Ive used canned ham, baked ham, smoked ham, and left over boiled ham from ham n beans. It all works good. Ive used sage instead of thyme and its great too. I always add garlic.. Its a great ham chowder. We love it.
