About this Cook
Stay at home mom & going to college
My favorite things to cook
Anything that tastes great! Love to try new things... especially when I can look in the cabinets to find everything I need! Preparation and clean up is important too... don't want to spend too much time in the kitchen for what should be a simple meal!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Anything Barbecued, cooked on the grill, or cooked outside in general!! Using a turkey-cooker to fry catfish or anything, really!
My cooking triumphs
Home canning & preserving foods... I've tried many new things this year, most good & couple not so good recipes...

Egg Noodles
These really are just like Grandma's!! I prepare a double batch & freeze what I don't use... Makes meals easier, yet still home-made with love :)

Canned Apple Pie Filling
Only gets 3 stars due to the directions, but it is a good basic recipe to use for reference. I found that by mixing the cornstarch with the dry ingredients, it will end up clumping in the end product. To prevent this, I simply add the cornstarch with some of the cold liquid and stir until smooth. Bring other ingredients (minus the apples) to a boil then add the cornstarch mixture and stir constantly. Bring to rolling boil & continue stirring for 1 minute. Remove from heat & alternately add apples & filling into sterile jars.

Ice Cream Base
It took a couple of tries to get it right, I think I was overcooking it & most of liquid was evaporating, but it is good if you have time & want really good creamy ice cream!! I prefer this over the refrigerate recipes any day!
