About this Cook
I like to cook and bake, I'm told my baking is better than my cooking. I am married with three kids. I work full-time, so I don't get to experiment in the kitchen much anymore. I love to throw parties.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to cook is dessert, but I really like to make anything as long as I have the time, the right ingredients, and a really great recipe! I also like to experiment and make up my own recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year, my kids and I bake cookies from scratch for our annual "Christmas Season Kick-Off Party" the Saturday after Thanksgiving. When I was little, I spent a lot of time baking with my grandmother.
My cooking triumphs
The best thing I've "created" so far is my Roasted Red Pepper Dip/Spread. I have gotten a lot of great comments about it and requests for the recipe. I am asked to make it a lot, along with our family's famous Pudding Dessert.
My cooking tragedies
Because of poorly written recipes, I've made disastrous fudge and a horrible Cool & Easy Pie. I also have no patience for candy-making. I always end up using the melted chocolate to make "bark" because that's easy to do!!!

Cool 'n Easy Pie
I followed this recipe exactly and in the 15-20 minutes it was in the fridge, a large portion of liquid separated out and sat at the bottom of the bowl. I had to throw the whole thing out and start over. I don't think the whipped topping should be stirred in with a wire wisk; it should be gently folded in with a rubber scraper.

Honey Cornbread
I didn't have heavy cream so I had to use's substitution suggestion of 3/4 c milk and 1/3 c butter, so it wasn't as moist as it probably should have been, but it was still very good.

Chocolate Trifle
I make this in a 13x9 pan with just three layers and cut into squares - it's wonderful!
