Fried Irish Cabbage with Bacon

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2012
This is soooo good! I add about a tsp of brown sugar to help caramelize the cabbage but still retain it's crisp/tender qualities. Brussel sprouts are TDF prepared like this. I half them, steam them for a short time then throw them in the skillet. My future daughter in law says, "I now like brussel sprouts!"

Dakota's Texas Style Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
This was absolutely awesome chili! We had a "It's Chili Today!" luncheon at work and we had 5 different kinds of chili. I chose to make this one because several of my co-workers can't eat beans. I was a little skeptical at first, but it smelled wonderful! It was the first chili completely gone! Huge hit! I used a bottom round roast I had bought on sale and used beef broth for most of the liquid. I did brown the beef cubes just to impart a little more flavor. Otherwise, made it as written. Have forwarded to my son who is a "chili nut"! I know he will up the heat, as I will probably do next time, and believe me, there will definitely be a next time!!

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2011
This is wonderful! I add some sliced onions, a couple whole cloves of garlic and a splash of the pepperoncini juice and let it cook in the crockpot all day. I slice it and put it back in the jus and let it soak up all those wonderful flavors. Served it for a post football game party and there wasn't a shred left. Giardinara is an absolute must have condiment for this sandwich! Toasty Italian bread and provolone cheese?? Hmmm, I have a roast in the freezer and I think it's calling!
