I work in the medical field and electronic medical records are stressing me to the max. I can escape in cooking. I come home every night (often time after 7 PM) and I cook. My husband is my biggest fan.
I do love the grocery store. I like to buy the specials and find something new to cook with these ingredients. I check the clearnce produce rack and the fresh meat with those red $2.00 off stickers on them. It's all part of the 'hunt' and an escape from the days pressures. I don't think I save any money but it's my game.
My favorite things to cook
Barbequed ribs. I guess I cook them a little too often. When I asked my then 5 year old grandson (On Thanksgiving day) what he wanted for dinner he said 'Ribs Grandma' So now they're 'Adam's Ribs'
My favorite family cooking traditions
The cheese ball. Originally, and I mean about 30 years ago, I found the recipe on the Lindsay Black Olive can for a cheese ball. This year I claimed it as 'Jane's cheese ball' and emailed it to my family.
My cooking triumphs
Deep Fried Turkey. You know those big pans put over the propane base. It was delicious and in spite of holding a glass of white wine throughout the procees, no one got hurt. The turkey cooker has been retired.
My cooking tragedies
Married Jan 13,1972 (Superbowl VI)
About a week later in our third floor kitchen(with the slanted roof)
I will make spagetti sauce for my husband. So... fresh Garlic. Not something I had ever seen in my mother's kitchen. The recipe called for two cloves. How convenient, there are two 'cloves' in the little box I bought.
So... I had a lot of homemade sauce and every time I served it it was stronger. My husband never protested. He still loves garlic and continues to be my biggest fan.
