The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2007
Not bad but missing something, perhaps more sugar is needed or some lemon zest, something sweet or flavor-rich. I will continue looking for the perfect sugar cookie recipe.

Pan-Fried Steak with Marsala Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2007
Hubby liked it (didn't love it), but I wouldn't make it again -- didn't taste bad, just wasn't all that exciting for me.

Italian-Style Spaghetti Squash

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
The best vegetable-based dish we've ever had!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will add a little garlic powder next time, but otherwise, this dish is superb! Can't wait to make it again.

Spintz Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2007
Outstanding chocolate cake, exceptionally moist! However, the cake could be a bit "chocolatier." The filling also needs to be less like actual peanut butter and more like a smooth, peanut butter frosting -- it was just too sticky, almost like eating peanut butter out of the jar.

Easy Apple Coleslaw

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
I didn't like but my husband thought it was okay. Although I won't be making it again, my advice is to eliminate the green onions for those who do make this.

Vegetable Whip

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2007
Hubby and I found this dish to have little flavor. There are too many recipes out there with the right combination of vegetables and seasonings already that I don't feel compelled to tinker with this one. Wouldn't make again.

Jackie's Spinach and Apple Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
Nice side dish, healthy, quick and easy. Would decrease the cider vinegar next time, a bit "potent" as it is now.

Pesto Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
Will definitely try again with a little tweaking. Recipe needs a bit more flavor--add more salt and pepper, and a bit of garlic which is currently not called for. I'd also up the pesto, perhaps double. The recipe would benefit from some guidance on number of layers and how much filling to add between the layers--I used five layers of noodles (4 layers of filling)-- if you follow this, the filling will be relatively thin on each layer. Easy to make.

Cowboy Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
Excellent!!!!!!!!! May need to mash the mixture in batches, but otherwise, very easy to prepare. For those health-conscious individuals out there, I'm sure these potatoes would be delicious without or with less butter. For those looking for some zing to their potatoes, you might want to aadd more jalapeno--we couldn't really taste that flavor among the many other wonderful flavors. Great recipe!!!

Bean and Bacon Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2005
Would give this 6 *'s if I could. Very fresh. Lots of chopping, but worth it. I'm not very good at measuring "cups" of vegetables--for this recipe I used 1 head of cabbage, 1 small bunch of celery, and 1/2 an onion. We're not big fans of raw onion, so reserved a little bit of bacon grease to cook the onion prior to combining with other ingredients (after draining well). This recipe is a great way to deliciously add cabbage to your diet!!
