Peanut Blossoms II

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2014
Best peanut butter blossoms I've ever had! I modified the recipe slightly and didn't dip them in sugar. I think that gave them a better texture overall and didn't take away from the peanut butter flavor. I baked them for 8.5 minutes, added the chocolate kiss, and put them back in the oven for 1.5 minutes. I think I'll make them with Dove Promises next time like other reviewers did as Hershey's Kisses seem to have a waxier flavor to them in recent years.

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2014
I used 1/2 cup of sugar instead of the 3/4 cup when I made this for my grandkids on New Year's day. They proclaimed it was the best cocoa they'd ever had, and I have to agree with them. It's a perfect treat on a blustery Wisconsin day! Thanks, Jeanie!

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
This IS the best lasagna I have ever had. My husband and I agree that this beats our favorite Italian restaurant's version. I served it to my family and received rave reviews. Even my toddler grandchildren who are picky eaters devoured it and asked for more. Thank you, John.

Kristin's Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2011
These sounded so good. I followed the recipe to the tee, but I just didn't care for the texture of them I'll stick with Brooke's Bombshell Brownies.

Fudgy Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
These were okay. Not a lot of flavor. I prefer a more intense chocolate flavor in my brownies.

Beer Margaritas

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2008
Excellent! I served it to my guests(along with Texas Caviar) over the weekend and got rave reviews along with requests for the recipe. I followed the recipe as it was written and won't change anything the next time I make it. Thanks for sharing!

Beer Lime Grilled Chicken

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
The flavors were very bland and had an odd taste overall. I marinated the chicken for almost two hours. Despite not having been overcooked, the chicken turned out dry.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2008
The crust was way too thick and bland overall. The filling was okay, but I've made better lemon bars myself.

Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
This was sinfully delicious! Very creamy and smooth with a nice consistency. I do think I will follow Alesiagirl's lead and use fat-free sweetened condensed milk the next time I make it to cut down on the fat. Thank you, Priscilla, for sharing this with us!

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2008
For some time, I've been on a quest for a recipe for a recipe for the perfect brownie--chewy and fudgy. Recently I made the Barefoot Contessa's "Outrageous Brownies" and another recipe called "Supernatural Brownies," which was featured in the New York Times. While both of them were tasty, Brooke's brownies surpassed them. I would like to add that I didn't alter anything in this recipe. I did have to bake them a little longer than the recipe stated and was concerned about over baking them, but they turned out perfectly. The corners (which I usually don't like) were especially delicious and had a nice chewiness to them. This recipe is definitely a keeper. Thanks, Brooke!

Zesty Chipotle Lime Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2008
I usually enjoy spicy things, but I felt that the chipotle powder in this was too much. Also, there seemed to be something missing from it. The mayonnaise and sour cream mixture was so rich that I felt as if it needed something added to it.

Butternut Squash Supreme

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
This was excellent! My family loved it. I baked my squash instead of boiling it. Also, I agree with other reviewers about sauteeing the onions before mixing it in the squash.

Homesteader Cornbread

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
Sorry, but this cornbread didn't have much flavor. Perhaps it wasn't sweet enough for my taste.

Hummus III

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
This was horrible. The overall consistency was way too thick and the tahini overpowered it. We ended up scrapping it because no one cared for it.

Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This is a keeper! We all loved it. Being from the Midwest, I had never heard of ranch style beans before and had a little trouble finding them. However, one of the larger supermarkets in my area stocked ConAgra brand Ranch Syle beans in several varieties. I used the Original Texas Beans. If you are able to find them, I highly recommend you use them since they give the casserole its flavor. The only modification I made to this recipe was to add chopped onions and roasted garlic to the ground beef as I was frying it. Thanks, Beverly for a great recipe!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2006
I thought this recipe was wonderful! It had a really good flavor. The only thing I did diffently was to reduce the amount of salt by half. Next time, though, I think I might add more mushrooms to it.

Chicken Paprikash I

Reviewed: May 24, 2006
It was just okay, but bland overall. I didn't have any Hungarian paprika on hand, maybe that would have improved it as some other readers recommended.

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

My husband enjoyed this. I didn't mind it but felt that something was missing. It was a little on the bland side. Update, this recipe was better the second day. I am giving it four stars!

Ribs Fantastic

We did not care for this and ended up throwing the majority out. The sauce was on the cloying side and had a very strong ketchup flavor. Sorry.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2003
This soup is AWESOME! I did follower other reviewers' suggestions and used one pound of ground beef. I also omitted the 1 T of butter to brown the beef and drained it well. I added a little garlic powder also. I think next time, I will cut the amount of basil in half as it was a little overpowering.
