I love to bake and desserts are my favorite. I also enjoy using the slow cooker because it's so simple.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister and I bake cookies and bread every year at Christmas. It's something I always look forward to and we always laugh a ton! Even when things don't come out perfect, we have a great time!
My cooking triumphs
I have been terrified of making bread with yeast. It just seemed too easy to mess up. But I've been trying it and having great success, so I'm pretty excited about that!
My cooking tragedies
Hmmmm - blowing up marshmallow cream in the microwave when making rice crispie treats! That's not fun to clean up!

Slow Cooker Pumpkin Turkey Chili
I really liked the pumpkin in this chili, but I found the pumpkin pie spices to be too much. It was more sweet than I would have liked. My son wouldn't eat it.

Sweet, Sticky and Spicy Chicken
This is excellent and my whole family loved it. I took the advice of others and cut my chicken into bite sized pieces, placed them in a ziplock bag, and then coated them with flour, salt, and pepper. Seared on med-high heat with grapeseed oil before adding the sauce. It worked really well and we loved the flavor. Served over brown rice.

Kristin's Turkey Butternut Squash Casserole
I thought this was quite good. I used Saltines instead of Ritz because that's what I had, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. I was a bit worried that the squash wouldn't be soft enough, but it was fine. It's pretty salty with the crackers, so I don't think you need to add the extra salt.
