Holiday Cheese Truffles

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2011
If I try this again I will make the truffles smaller than suggested, it's a lot of cream cheese! I will also try sun dried tomatoes instead of peppers and more of the cayenne pepper and garlic powder, my truffles turned out a little bland.

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
This was wonderful! I only used 1 lb of shrimp because I was only planning for a small party and had a number of apps. I tossed the left overs with pasta the next day! The extra sauce was great!

Spinach Crescents

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2011
My partner ran out to get the rolls for me and ended up grabbing the biscuits instead. I made due by cutting them horizontally into three pieces. They actually turned out pretty well! In the future I will do my own grocery shopping in advance.

Mediterranean Kale

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2012
I bought a ton of kale and needed to use it before it wilted. This was the perfect recipe and it was great! My fiance, who doesn't like kale, picked at this all night.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This was a quick and easy recipe for dinner and tasted amazing! I used two medium onions and one red onion for the bottom of the roast. We are a garlic family so I added 5 cloves of garlic to the onion bed.

Salmon Puffs

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I used the seamless pillsbury roll, which worked very well. Some other reviews mentioned the concern around the cheese. I used goat cheese and it was wonderful, but I actually don't believe you could go wrong with any variation. This is a wonderful recipe!! The next time I will use goat cheese again as well as add green onion or spinach.

Fried Mac and Cheese Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
I went to my local cheese shop and asked them for their advice. They suggested three different cheeses, which were wonderful. A gruyère, 'soft smelly' cheese, and a third I can't remember. I also used panko break crumbs instead of seasoned break crumbs.

Crescent Bacon-Cheddar Pinwheels

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
This is always a huge hit! I use 2x the green onions and I buy bacon from a local butcher and make my own bacon bits. I have also used dijon mustard and sage sausage as a filling as well so I'm not always serving the same thing.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2012
Best summer salad recipe!! I use red wine vinegar instead of white though. I also use a teaspoon of dry mustard and leave out the sesame seeds.

Oven-Roasted Asparagus

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
This was great!! I used two garlic cloves as well as fresh lemon juice and it was a huge hit! When I baked it I used the stove top and set the temp at medium and let it cook for about 10 minutes, covered. It still turned out well, but I did add some more freshly grated parmesan at the end. When I make it again I will use the oven.

Southwestern Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2012
This was quick and easy to make. The chili powder was a bit much so the second time I used a jalapeno pepper instead of adding any chili powder. The next time I make this I will add about 1 tsp of chili powder to the dressing and will make sure to keep the jalapeno in there as well.

Old-Fashioned Roasted Pecans

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
This was a HUGE hit! I took some liberties and added bacon though. I cooked thick cut bacon on the stove, chopped it up and tossed it with the pecans once they were done. I used an equal amount of bacon and pecans, but I'm sure it is easily adjusted. This will be served at all of my future parties!

Apple Julep

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
I was a bit unsure of this recipe; however, I wanted a non-alcoholic beverage at my party. I added more crussed mint than called for as well as about 3/4 cup of raspberries. It was great! I will definitely make it again!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: May 6, 2012
Many of my friends said this was their favorite appetizer at our party. I used 2 tablespoons of lemon juice instead of the fruit preserve and I'm glad I did, I think it would have been too sweet for my friends.
