I am a very out-going person and love to be active. Being outdoorsy and spending time w/ family and friends keeps me sane. I also love to cook and bake. It is very theraputic and rewarding for me. I love being creative.
My favorite things to cook
Creating something new or putting new touches on a traditional dish is so much fun and keeps things interesting.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Remembering Thanksgiving dinner growing up doesn't always include turkey. My father is an avid hunter, and my mom made amazing Thanksgiving dinners with whatever game my dad harvested that year.
Some of my favorite memories are spending hours in the kitchen with my grandmother, helping her bake. We also enjoyed coloring eggs almost every year.
My cooking triumphs
I have become the family baker. My pies are requested every year for all holidays and special events. It also seems like the number of pies requested increases each year..lol.
My lasagna; angle hair pasta w/ varied additions in olive oil; beef stroganoff; potato salad; and anything I bake seem to be my triumphs, as well as the most requested dishes by family and friends.
My cooking tragedies
I have issues w/ gravy...lol. This was the first year (Thanksgiving) my gravy was edible and actually tasted good.
One of my first tries at meatloaf was a disaster. I was trying a new recipe; however, I was cutting the recipe in half and forgot to cut the amount of salt in half. It was terrible and completely inedible. What made the situation worse was, I had invited my parents over for dinner, as a thank you for their help and support during the renovation of my kitchen. It was my first meal cooked in my new kitchen, and I ruined it. We ended up ordering pizza!
