I'm a full time graduate student that loves to cook, but no longer has the time to do it often.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking desserts for other people and cooking meals for friends. I love cooking indian food like naan, Chicken Korma, samosas and kulfi. I am an expert at sinful desserts, thanks in large part to the wonderful recipes here. My favorite is death by chocolate and my version I've dubbed Chocozuma's Revenge :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom doesn't cook often but my grandmother was a cooking wiz. I loved her panfried corn which no one can duplicate. I regret not learning more from her before she passed. I have managed to replicate her bannana cake.
My cooking triumphs
I'm most proud of turning mistakes into great recipes. My favorite mishaps turned triumphs are Chocozuma's Revenge from a too moist chocolate cake (I'm still working on the name) and my Death by Truffle, truffles turned into death by chocolate.
My cooking tragedies
It took me a while to get the whole cake thing down, largely because I try and multi-task while cooking. I once put baking soda in a recipe that called for baking powder and ended up with a baking soda flavored cake (yuk). I hated it, but my friends actually loved it. I guess they were hungry, or they just really love me.
