Potato Salad for 40

Reviewed: May 26, 2013
I have been eating, and making, this type of potato salad since I met my husband 44 years ago. The only difference is we add some dill pickle juice to the mayonnaise mixture before adding it to the potatoes, eggs and green onions. My mother-in-law always used 5 pounds of red potatoes, one dozen eggs and close to two bunches of green onions (green parts only). The mayo-mustard, salt and pepper were never measured. I followed your recipe using 5 pounds of potato but added a lot more mustard than listed (I USED TWO TABLESPOONS, AS WE LIKE IT TO HAVE SOME ZIP). IT WAS FANTASTIC! I CAN NOW DUPLICATE THE TASTE EVERY TIME.

OREO Cheesecake Bites

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
Another winner! After chilling it overnight I was disappointed when I tasted it cold the next morning. Later that day I took it to my Tuesday night dinner group and we ate it at room temperature (everyone loved it)!! By the next day it tasted good either way (straight out of the refrigerator or at room temperature). Will definitely make this again.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Tried this recipe out on my Tuesday night guinea pigs and we all thought it was terrific. I looked at someone's picture (used a 13 x 9 plan and placed 6 on each side of the pan and put four vertically down the center). I made sure the tops were brown and were crispy on the top. Then we put two in each bowl, topped with some syrup and then added a scoop of vanilla ice cream. DELICIOUS!

Beautiful Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2011
Brought to my friend's house. Everyone really liked this salad. Used Blue Cheese and Honey Dry Roasted Nuts. This is definitely a keeper. Liked the fact that each person could do their own plates and leave out an ingredient if they didn't like it (although the combination of using all the ingredients appeared to be the right combination of flavors).

Easy Meatloaf

Very good meatloaf. Only change I made was to add quite a bit of garlic powder. Would definitely make again.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
This was my first time making cornbread and I thought it was terrific! I did not think it was too sweet. Other than the side pieces, it was very moist. I suggest checking to see if it is done a few minutes before the time listed. I definitely plan to make this again.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2008
Really terrific! I took this loaf (and a Sour Cream Banana Bread from this website) with me to visit my cousin in AZ. Each morning (and many evenings) her significant other and I whittled away through the loaf! Since my cousin doesn't care for pumpkin, she concentrated on the banana bread (also delicious). Before I left Chicago, I tasted the bread every few hours (as an experiment, of course) to see if the taste does improves with time. As good as it tastes right from the oven, it becomes more moist as time passes.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
I've made many banana breads from this site and this is one of two that I really like. The other one is made with buttermilk instead of sour cream. They are both terrific.

Country Poppy Seed Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
I just brought this cake to work today for Boss's Day. I've made it many times with rave reviews, but somehow lost my recipe. I've just received the following comment from a co-worker: Your cake is outstanding. Is that almond I taste in the cake too? I love the poppy seeds! I would love your recipe. I would definitely make this one. Then, while I was typing this review another person stopped at my desk asking for the recipe!

Fruited Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 19, 2007
I emailed this recipe to a friend saying "doesn't this sound good" ... she retired from the company I still work for. She said why don't you come over at lunchtime one day and I'll try the recipe. I went there the other day on my birthday and it was really delicious. She used red, rather than green, grapes and the apple was a Granny Smith rather than a sweeter apple. I'm guessing this would have been a 5 star recipe without these changes.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

I loved the smell and taste of these cookies. A few of my batches were just slightly over-cooked and although delicious the others were better.

Banana Loaf Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2005
After reading several reviews, I too doubled the butter and egg. I shook a little salt in. This cake/loaf was really good!! Because of it's sweetness it seemed more cake-like. Next time I will try cutting down on the sugar just to see how it tastes. I had three pieces last night (once warm out of the oven, once at room temperature and once when wrapping it up. This morning my husband and I had some cold from the refrigerator and again it was terrific. Don't think you can go wrong trying this recipe.

Simple Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2005
This was very, very good. My brother was in from Florida so I had my father and his wife over for dinner. Everyone but my 15 year old daughter liked it. My father has been raving about it ever since (and this is totally out of character for him). Just be sure not to overcook it!

Cranberry Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2005
I've never made Cranberry Bread before but certainly plan to again. My husband and I loved it! Since he's not a berry fan I didn't even think he would try it and was so glad he did! It took me a while to "grate" the orange peel, since I don't own a zester. The orange and cranberry taste were a match made in heaven. I'm planning to purchase a zester since I know I will make this again and again. Thanks for a terrific recipe.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2004
Very good. Brought them to a Community Service Event I planned for 12 co-workers. Some didn't have any, but those that tried them all seemed to go back for more. Next time I will try using Chunky Peanut Butter. But, "make no mistake," these were fine as is.

Libby's® Pumpkin Cranberry Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2004
Great recipe! I defrosted frozen cranberries, patted dry with a paper towel, cut them in half, and dabbed lightly with another paper towel. After using cooking oil spray, I sprinkled the bottom of pan with a cinnamon/sugar mixture then poured in the batter. The tartness of the cranberries really make this pumpkin bread delicious. I will definitely make this again!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2004
These waffles were very good following the recipe as written. Were also good frozen then warmed up in the microwave with butter pats on top of them. Good for a quick breakfast on a school morning. I can only imagine that adding more sugar and vanilla and/or using buttermilk, evaporated milk or cream for all or part of the milk would make them even more delicious. I may try modifications next time but we enjoyed them as is.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2003
I doubled this recipe since I had several ripe bananas. It was great for us, since my husband and I thought it was terrific! I also added a cinnamon/sugar mixture to the pan before adding the mixture. Earlier in the day I made a Monkey Bread Recipe on this site and had leftovers begging to be used. This is the second recipe I am saving to my on-line collection. Try it, you'll like it!!

Angel's Old Fashioned Beef Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2002
I brought this stew to my parent's house one Sunday for dinner and everyone thought it was great (even my 12 year old daughter who isn't fond of stew said it was good). The second time I made it I was short one can of beef broth so instead I added 10 ounces of water with a package of Lipton Dry Onion soup Mix. My family ate it and then I sent some home to my parents. We all agreed it was even better the second time! I FORGOT TO MENTION that both times I added a large drained can of "small" peas the last 10 minutes to warm them up in the stew. This is definitely a keeper (first one I have tried, first one I have reviewed, and first one in my recipe box)!!!
