Chunky Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
Maybe I didn't really do it right, but I felt that I did not have enough of the brownie mix to really make two layers and it ended up too soft to really hold up well. The two different layers just had too must inconsistency in softness. The flavor was pretty good. I might try this again with some tweaks.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I've made this twice now. I made a couple changes when I did it. I used garlic powder instead of real garlic and poured all the sauce into the baking pan and covered it. I flipped it a few times during baking and left it uncovered for the last bit. Family loves the teriyaki sauce!!!

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I really like this icing for decorating. Its great for piping out decorations on cookies (i used it for gingerbread men). My suggestion is that the more you put on a cookie the longer it will take to dry. And sometimes I thought the icing was dry and I stacked the cookies and they ended up sticking together. Let them dry!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I love these cookies because they are not too gingery and everyone loved them! My husband and grandpa ate these up like crazy and they don't even normally like gingerbread men. I have already made this 3 more times!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2011
I too was worried that there wasn't enough liquid to go in with the chicken, but it worked out great. I cooked it for a few hours on high instead of on low, and followed everything else perfectly. It was good, a bit salty for my taste, but I would definitely do this recipe again!

Tangy Sirloin Strips

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
I had to do a little substitutions because I did not have everything in the pantry. I didn't have an onion powder and didn't do the bacon strips. I also used lemon juice instead of the lemon-pepper seasonings. I also added a touch of liquid smoke. for the glaze, I used brown sugar for the molasses and boy, this stuff is amazing. I saved the left over glaze for our next BBQ and this was a hit! I made if for Father's day and my husband and grandpa both absolutely loved it!

Marshmallow Fondant

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
You need WAY more sugar than what is stated in the recipe. Other than that, it was great. I liked the flavor of this fondant over more traditional fondants and its very easy to use. I was just trying to cover a 9 in cake, and this was WAY too much fondant. I will need to scale it back next time.

Pretty Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
I think the liquid smoke really puts it over the edge. I actually soaked the chicken in the marinade overnight and I didn't have any problems either with the chicken. It was moist, flavorful, and the carmelization was fantastic.

Blueberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2011
I followed this recipie exactly with the exception of adding 1 more Tbs of cornstarch and a bit of lemon, and it was absolutely perfect. I made this on Memorial day for grandpa who said the last time he had blueberry pie was in 1943. He said the only problem was that I didn't give him enough vanilla ice cream to go with it! I tried to take a photo of the pie, but it was gone before I got the chance! Will be using this for years to come.

The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
I dislike rating something when I didn't follow the recipe exactly, but it was out of taste preference. I didn't do the onion, relish, pepperoncinis, or olives, but i followed everything else exactly. It was my first time making potato salad, and i don't think i need to try a different recipe. This one rocks! Perfect for the Memorial Day BBQ!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
I added a bit of shortening with the chocolate when I was meleting it and I did half a batch in white and half a batch in milk chocolate. The freezing and fridge time are totally necessary. After I mixed the frosting and cake together (just using a spatula), I put in the fridge until it was cold, then rolled into balls, and froze them so I could easily dunk them into the chocolate. A lot of work, but they came out very delicious! The white chocolate covered ones just disappeared!

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2011
I read the other reviews and used less butter. I used about 1/3 it was more than plenty. Next time though, I will use flour to help stick the crumbs onto the chicken better. Also, I used Ritz crackers. The worked great flavor wise, just didn't really stick. I will definitely do this again and use flour. Everyone loved it!

Cream Corn Like No Other

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2011
I just made this exactly how the recipe describes except I used a can of corn instead of using the frozen. I also halfed the ingredients as I was just making this for my husband's grandparents. I also skipped on the parm as it tasted so good already. Oh My goodness, grandpa loves it! He is a die hard Missourian, and loves this type of cooking. This was very easy and simple to make and I will be making this many more times in the future.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
This is a good basic recipe. I took suggestions from other reviews and used a broth to cook the chicken in after getting a good brown on both sides. I also seasoned the chicken before adding it to the pan. Unfortunately I didn't have my car today so I could not go get onion and garlic and had to use the seasoning. I made the broth from a bullion cube. The chicken was a bit on the salty side, but not intolerable. If I got to use a low sodium broth and fresh ingredients, I know it would take out the saltiness. I will def make this again.

Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
The cake part of this recipe is okay, but did not come out as dark as I would hope. Perhaps I would use a box or a different recipe next time. It looked more like a gingerbread color. Flavor was ok. The filling was great. I used an apple corer and plugged up the holes when I was done. You should test how much to fill with one cake, because I under filled on some. I used a hard glaze recipe I found on this site, and used the filling to make the swirls on top. I would do this again, but with different cake.

Pot Stickers Traditional

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
I just made these for christmas for my Chinese family, and boy was I scared. My first time making pot stickers and my aunt who had to go back to China is an amazing cook. How am I supposed to match hers? This really was amazing. honestly they were the first things gone at the table. My cousin ate 12 of them before I told her to stop to save some for my husband. I used ground ginger instead of the slices, didn't do the water chestnuts and I didn't do the sauce and I used most of the 1/2 of a medium head. I also added some shrimp. I think next time I will add a bit more green onion, but otherwise my family was VERY impressed and I will definitely do this again!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
I wanted to take a photo to put on the site when this was done, but it was eaten way too fast. I was afraid I had made too much as I used the original recipe amounts, but for the 14 people at the party, it was all gone, and I think only half of them ate the dip. lol. I used frozen creamed spinach and that worked out fine. I did this really quickly and didn't get to melt the cream cheese, which I will do next time. And i used whole 8 oz package. perfect and i will do this again!

Fast Chicken Soup Base

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I really took the base of this as a guideline and changed a couple things. I used only 1 onion, eliminated the celery, added potatoes, put in some garlic and pepper, and boy this soup is so delicious. The base of this is so perfect you can use it to create so many types of soups and it's perfect for using those left over bones!

Hard Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I'm soo going to use this again. I used this as a glaze for a cream filled cupcake recipe i used on this site as well and they turned out so pretty! My only suggestion would be to let it cool for a bit before using it because then it isn't so liquidy, but I guess that depends on what you are using it for.

Christmas Stars

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2010
The cookie is good, my husband didn't really love it. Really, this cookie is mostly pretty to look at. However, I think if I had a better jam or jelly, this would be 5 stars. I used smuckers strawberry jam. Husband says it reminded him of eating a PB&J sandwich, but not in a good way.
