I don't like to cook. But I really enjoy delicious food, so I've gotten good at it. LOL
I'm a SAHM of 3 little girls. My husband often comes home after a very stressful day at work saying he's not ready to eat, then changes his mind when he sees what's for dinner.
I stumbled upon allrecipes.com when a friend shared a cookie recipe she found here. I've really enjoyed finding new ways to change up the same old things, and I enjoy browsing the recipes, just salivating. I look forward to when my kids' palates are a bit more enlightened. LOL
I also really enjoy learning more about different methods of cooking different things - anything that makes the chore of feeding my brood easier.
My favorite things to cook
I TRY to cook healthy meals, but I love meat and dairy, so it's certainly a challenge. I am really tickled when I find a tasty and healthy way to prepare vegetables (especially if I can get the kids to eat it).
My favorite things to cook are chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal chocolate chip muffins, but that's only because I enjoy eating them SO much.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite things are my mom's deviled eggs and sweet potato pies at the holidays. And my dad can make anything into a delicious stew. I miss my grandmother's gumbo and her collard greens.
My cooking triumphs
My greatest cooking triumph was someone was looking for recommendations for restaurants and asked my husband where he liked to eat. He replied, "My house." :) He isn't a picky eater & would live off of Ramen if it were up to him, so this was a huge compliment.
My cooking tragedies
Oh, boy, this could be a long section. I have cooking tragedies quite regularly. I've always been rather accident-prone, I have very little patience, and my attention span and time-management skills are nonexistent at best. Here's a perfect example: I love beans with sausage over rice and cornbread. They're delicious, cheap, and nutritious. I prepare them frequently. And just the other day, I didn't start soaking them early enough, then I let the pot boil over and it made a huge mess on the stove, and then I added too much pepper. To top it off, I was trying to let them cook longer so they wouldn't have crunchies, but didn't stir them enough & they scorched on the bottom & cooked off too much water. So they ended up scorched, dry and thick with crunchies. Yum (not really).
