Leftover Pot Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2013
Delicious! read the reviews, use the recipe as your starting point/guide and use what you have from your leftover meal and the gravy that went with it, and it is the best pot pie, and you're not wasting all those leftovers that everyone gets tired of picking on. It takes on a whole new flavor and identity. Truly glad I used this one and did this. I will be doing this for thanksgivings to come, instead of my usual turkey noodle soup. Don't forget to utilize any veggies u may have had left from the veggie tray too. I blanched some small broccoli florets, used the carrots so even the veggie tray didn't get wasted. I sauted carrot onion celery and garlic ( as another review suggested) used the gravy thinned down just a little bit with the juice left from the corn that I strained out. Added 2 sm. diced red potatoes, used the green beans and of course the turkey and this thing was just awesome. Your seasoning is already there from using what you already seasoned and cooked from the prior meal ( maybe add a little S &P to taste) and this couldn't be any easier. I wasn't ready to make homemade pie crust and thawed out 2 Marie Callender pie crusts from the pie pans they come in and rolled them out to fit my larger deep dish pie dish (the way they come are too shallow) and it worked perfectly. Plenty of juice not a bit dry and stocked full of every goody from turkey day with a whole new identity and taste. Definitely use this, make it your own, and ENJOY!!!!

Cherry Pie Filling

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2012
made this for the first time with the cherries from our trees in our backyard and it was awesome!! I did add just a touch of vanilla just because I like it in most of my pastry recipes. So easy and so much better than a can. I made turnovers and mini cherry pies in the little foil tart pans to give away to family n friends. I will make this again next cherry season and make enough and sooner(before everyone eats most of the cherries) to put up for pastries after the official cherry season.

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
this deserves six stars as it is!!! wow, then make a few personal taste touches (mine were fresh tomatoes & a can of petite diced tomatoes instead of water, 1cup,maybe a touch more,of chicken stock, we wanted more broth, not quite 1 sm can of tomato paste, both hot n mild Italian sausage, fresh spinach at the end and a little extra wine!) but you can make your own personal touches or not buck this recipe will not fail you!!! DELICIOUS!!!!

Pork Medallions

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
wow, awesome recipe to change up my old routine on boneless pork loin chops. made basically as directed, took a few suggestions from reviews, since i too did not have savory. I didn't get to add wine (white or marsala) as i had planned from one of the reviews but i did switch to the shallots and doubled up on the broth, garlic and used fresh rosemary. Pork was tender gravy was very flavorful. As with any recipe, use them as a guide and season to your own personal taste. I think that where some of the reviews went astray. Thanks for posting will be making this again and probably trying some new tidbits then too, as always. enjoy!!

Decadent Peanut Butter Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2011
this should get 10 stars!! easy, quick & delicious. Family loved it, you don't need to change a thing if you don't want to, of course everyone makes things to their own taste, as they should, but if you're a beginner, follow exactly as written and you will be very happy. Fantastic recipe. I will try an oreo pie crust next time but the regular chocolate crust was fine too. Highly recommend this for yourself or definitely to take to a party or give someone as a gift or something.

Triple Berry Crisp

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2011
very nice, easy recipe. easy to variate the berries you like or in season. I added a little bit of vanilla, a touch of cinnamon & a touch of nutmeg to the berry mixture, and used my fresh raspberries from the yard, blackberries & blueberries were frozen and it was delicious. I did add about a tablespoon of Minute Tapioca to the berry mixture to thicken it a bit as frozen berries can be a little watery. I used rolled oats the first time and it was a little "chewy??", then tried it again and used quick oats, fresh sliced apples & cinnamon (for an apple crisp) and it was much better the quick oats did not overwhelm the "crisp topping" as the rolled oats did. I did find that when I used it for the Apple Crisp the bottom soaked up too much of the juice so if you use it with Apples only, either make a very thin bottom layer, or (like I will in the future) only use it for a crisp topping, this did not happen with the berries, they had plenty of juice with a bottom and top crisp layer. As usual practice and experment to find what works for you. Like I said this recipe is versatile, use whatever fruit/berry you like, it works. Enjoy everyone.

great but I did leave out the bacon. I save that ingredient for my German Potato Salad.

Cucumbers in Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
I make a cucumber salad similar to this but, try this its awesome passed down from grandma to mom and now the daughters. 1cup Pet evaporated milk, 1 cup sugar, 1/2 cup vinegar. that's it and it's delicious. if your using less cucumber & onion then just make it equal parts of the evaporated milk & sugar, & 1/2 of whatever amount you used for those, of the vinegar.
