About this Cook
I am a stylist in a little salon in Fremont. But most of all I am a wife to the most wonderful husband in the world! (he still brings me coffee in bed) I have 6 animals. 3 dogs and 3 cats. The dogs have their own bedroom. All of them are indoors.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies, cranberry cake, banana bread, any pie, fresh applesauce, honey glazed carrots, broccoli in any form, spaghetti and burgers. pork chops are always tender. And my all time favorite is my grandma's custard style tapioca pudding.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving by far. We always make enough to feed an army and my grandma always tells everyone at the table how I washed the turkey with Dawn dishsoap when I was 3 years old. But she's 94 so I guess shes allowed.
My cooking triumphs
Found a recipe for a cranberry cake with hot butter sauce in a magazine. I cut the hot butter sauce in half and changed the recipe to use cake flour instead of all purpose flour. It's FABULOUS! So tender and delicious and it melts in your mouth.
My cooking tragedies
My first Thanksgiving dinner that I cooked by myself. I overcooked the turkey to the point it was like eating dust. The souffle I made never did rise and then I blew up the oven.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf
Very tasty! Just a bit too much brown sugar for my taste but otherwise very good.

Almond Filling
I used 1/3 cup sugar and tempered the eggs in after the rest of the mixture had come to a boil. Cooked over med-low heat for about an extra minute after tempering the eggs and then added 1 tsp vanilla and 2 tsp almond extract along with 1 tbs amaretto. Came out really smooth and delicious. The first time I made this I followed the recipe exactly and ended up with scrambled eggs with milk in it. Best to temper those eggs!
