About this Cook
My husband Ray and I've been married for 30 years. We've raised 3 very unique and individual sons. Both Ray and I come from large mennonite families, and food was always a huge part of our gatherings. Our families have put together a couple of cookbooks of our favorite recipes. We love to intertain so grilling in the summertime is huge.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making soups, baked goods are very important in our family and therefore I've learnt how to make things my own and of course all the mennonite dishes like cabbage rolls, vareneke, rollkuchen with watermelon, Italian, mexican, and stirfrys are very much part of our everyday food. My husband loves to bbq and has made up some great recipes that people always ask for.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of our favourite family traditions is baking waffles outside on an antique waffle iron around the campfire served with a creamy vanilla sauce topped with fruit of your choice or whats in season. Kringle (twisted buns ) at christmas time.
My cooking triumphs
A cookie recipe, my grandmothers choclate cake, my aunts salad recipe and a casserole dish. I've added and omitted and now have become favourites with family and friends and been renamed tina's???.
My cooking tragedies
Learning how to cook a proper roast with out overcooking took a few trials and anything with dough took sometime to get the texture right.

Seven Layer Salad
I've made a version of this recipe for the last 25 years. It's an apsolute favorite with our families. Instead of cauliflower I use sliced hard boiled eggs and chopped tomatoes. I layer with lettuce, sliced thin red onion, peas, dressing, eggs, tomatoes, bacon and mixed mozzarella and cheddar cheese.

Missy's Lasagna
This recipe has a good base, but definetly needs some spices and herbs eg. garlic, basil, oregano, salt and pepper. and more sauce if using oven-ready noodles, or add some wine to the sauce.
