Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Mom was feeling well and asked me to bring the turkey over for thanksgiving this year. Have never cooked one before, but followed this recipe and it turned out great. Everyone was very impressed. I probably used more butter than the recipe called for, but hey, you can never have too much butter, right? :)

Cocoa Quickies

The easiest cookies ever. My mom used to make something like this when I was a kid, so I thought I would give it a try one night when we wanted cookies but didn't have any chocolate chips. This is now my wife's favorite cookie! We have tried them with and without coconut. I think both are great, although I think the coconut improves the consistency.

Pineapple Upside-Down Cake VII

And all this time I thought that iron skillet was for frying! :) I actually had to dig it out of my camping gear for this recipe. This was my first pineapple upside down cake, and my first time cooking anything in an iron skillet besides catfish, so I was a little worried. The only thing I changed was to use fresh pineapple, but other than that I just followed the recipe and it came out great! My wife was in awe of how pretty it was. Everyone loved it. Great recipe.

Creamy Scallop Chowder

Great easy recipe. My wife loved it! Have made the recipe twice now. Didn't have any regular white wine, so used white cooking wine. 1/2 a cup was a bit overpowering, so made it with 1/4 cup the next time and I thought it turned out better. I'm sure this was because I was using the cooking wine though. Great recipe though!

Blackberry Cobbler

Followed the recipe, except used a little less blackberries (because I like more crust). Turned out great. Probably not the best blackberry cobbler I've ever had, but pretty tasty. I give it 5 stars for it being quick and easy.

Caramel Brownies II

Made these for a potluck dinner where I met a lot of people for the first time. Now that's all they associate me with. "the guy that brought the caramel brownies". Yes, believe all the reviews, they are really that good. I was a little unsure what to do with the remaining batter which was to go on top of the caramel because it was too thick to pour on. So I just crumbed it up evening on top and they turned out perfect. Had to cook them for a lot longer than the recipe called for but just kept an eye on them (and a toothpick) until they were done.
