My favorite things to cook
I'm a big favourite of ethic cooking... greek or anything mediterranean, chinese, mexican or caribean are my favourites! I luvvvvvv gourmet cooking (this is where I excel)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being from Nfld., my favourite family cooking traditions are obviously fish, fish and more fish and, of course, blueberries! Fish 'n Brews, Figgy Duff, Pea Soup and Dumplings, Jiggs Dinner and so much more.. feel free to ask for my recipes...yum, yum!
My cooking triumphs
When I was a very young 17-18, I cooked all the food for a softball tournament that ended with a dance/party event at a hall, for about 100-150 people. Years later, I cooked and provided all the food for a friend who got married and held a small private event for about 65-75 people. I was very proud of this...she had many compliments about the food.
My cooking tragedies
No tragedy... just very, very funny. Many years ago, I moved away from home, had my own place and my then boyfriend came for the weekend with his friend for Thanksgiving Weekend.. of course, I had to cook the traditional turkey and all the other goodies.. Having never cooked a turkey before, I forgot to remove the plastic bag containing the neck, gizzard, etc. Let's just say that we had a meatless meal but so much fun it didn't matter!

Bacon Ranch Chicken Skewers
The only thing that had flavour for us was the bacon, but it did not cook enough before the chicken was done. It was soft and chewy. I agree with another review that the bacon should be partially cooked beforehand to give it a crisp taste.

Spinach Quiche
I loved it!! I was skeptical how it would turn out.. it seemed like a big mass of spinach at first, but the end result was very pleasing. I made a few variations -- I put a few slices of fried crumbled bacon in the bottom the pie shell and I used half mozzarella and half cheddar instead of all cheddar. I will definitely be making it again!
