It’s been over a year since I last blogged (not that I blogged a lot in the first place).
Sometimes life just gets in the way. You know what I mean. I’m trying *emphasis on the word ‘trying’* to implement a lifestyle change.
I’m obese. I’m 75 lb. more than I need to be.
And with that…
I grew up in a multiethnic household which reflects in the foods I eat and prepare. When my sons were little, cooking was more a chore;however I did bake more for them. Now foods they grew up on are what brings them home. We eat just about everything. Yet for some strange reason I married the world's pickiest eater. Imagine that. He definitely didn't marry me for my cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook big hearty meals with lots of sides-- enough to last several days at least. Some times it's Hawaiian. Some times it's soul food. Some times it's Asian. It also depends in what's on sale. ;-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
One son cooks on Tuesday. That works for me. My husband cooks steak and lobster for everyone on Valentine's Day. Good times to be had by all.
My cooking triumphs
I can put a meal for 6 on the table faster than Lindsey Lohan can get arrested.
My cooking tragedies
I've had all the cooking tragedies--cremated unidentified objects, using salt instead of sugar, over salted watery sauces, peculiar non-encore worthy wrongcoctions. But if you ask my son, the worst thing is that I can't duplicate his favorite mac and cheese. Since I don't usually measure and I grab whatever strikes my fancy, or is on sale, I have no idea what I did.
