It’s been over a year since I last blogged (not that I blogged a lot in the first place).  Sometimes life just gets in the way.  You know what I mean. I’m trying *emphasis on the word ‘trying’* to implement a lifestyle change.  I’m obese.  I’m 75 lb. more than I need to be.  And with that… MORE

Just want to start off mentioning my Mother's Day.  My #2 son made hot dog and eggs and brought it to me in bed for breakfast.  My husband took us all out for dinner.  That was nice of both of them.  However, my son didn't really clean up the kitchen after that, but it was the thought that… MORE

I hate picky eaters.  I really do.  In particular, the one I married.  Not that I hate “him”.  I hate that I can’t share one of the things I love most with him.  His list of acceptable items to eat is very short.  He likes:1.  Dead cremated cow (a.k.a. well-done steak)2.  Pork, especially… MORE

If you read my last blog, I wanted to have a Kentucky Derby party with mint juleps and funny hats.  I figured it would be something simple and just have a few people over (1 to 3 people) and either order pizza or Kentucky Fried Chicken (hellooooo KENTUCKY Derby!). It ended up being a… MORE

I don't know if you remember that movie line, but it's from "My Fair Lady".  Audrey Hepburn yells it at the horse race to the shock and dismay of the proper people around her.  For some reason that line always pops into my head when I think of horse racing.  This… MORE

First of all... why is there an L in salmon if you don't pronounce it?  Look it up.  It's pronounced 'sam?n.  For those of you that say sal-mon, you're wrong.  But you're only wrong because of some silly person putting the L in there.  So blame them. So I… MORE

When my husband gets a little inebriated, his normal quiet self talks up a storm and loves everybody.  Not that he doesn't normally love everybody, but he LUUUUUUUUVS everybody (if you know what I mean).  He also loves spending all day in the horizontal position with a remote… MORE

'Ekolu - #3 blog:  So I put in my very first recipe, "Lemon Asparagus Pasta".  I still guesstimated on the oil and "salt and pepper" is pretty innocuous [wooo big word huh?]  It's another recipe like my Ramen Cabbage salad.  It can sit out without… MORE

'Elua - Blog #2 Want to thank all the people that responded to my first blog.  I was actually shocked.  I've never blogged before or read a blog.  So I thought I'd be talking to myself (which I've done on several occasions).  Oh wait!  I'm married.  I talk to myself MORE

About Me
I grew up in a multiethnic household which reflects in the foods I eat and prepare. When my sons were little, cooking was more a chore;however I did bake more for them. Now foods they grew up on are what brings them home. We eat just about everything. Yet for some strange reason I married the world's pickiest eater. Imagine that. He definitely didn't marry me for my cooking!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook big hearty meals with lots of sides-- enough to last several days at least. Some times it's Hawaiian. Some times it's soul food. Some times it's Asian. It also depends in what's on sale. ;-)
My favorite family cooking traditions
One son cooks on Tuesday. That works for me. My husband cooks steak and lobster for everyone on Valentine's Day. Good times to be had by all.
My cooking triumphs
I can put a meal for 6 on the table faster than Lindsey Lohan can get arrested.
My cooking tragedies
I've had all the cooking tragedies--cremated unidentified objects, using salt instead of sugar, over salted watery sauces, peculiar non-encore worthy wrongcoctions. But if you ask my son, the worst thing is that I can't duplicate his favorite mac and cheese. Since I don't usually measure and I grab whatever strikes my fancy, or is on sale, I have no idea what I did.
