Chai Tea Mix

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
This is awesome! I could only find decaf instant tea and even though I put everything through a coffee grinder I still had residue, but I don't care; it was still awesome. I halved the sugar (used Ideal) and upped the spices half again except for the cloves, allspice, nutmeg and pepper. It was perfect! Thank you, Jo!!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
This is a lovely (and fast) sauce, Jackie. I made a few changes though. I used diced tomatoes, upped the garlic, added about a teaspoon of basil, and used a can of tomato sauce so I could simmer a little longer. Oh, I also threw in a bay leaf and a smidge of brown sugar. With your basic recipe and the kind suggestions of other reviewers, I ended up with a lovely sauce. This definitely goes in the "keeper" file. Thanks again!

Cranberry BBQ Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2008
This chicken was awesome!! I was afraid that my DH wouldn't like it as he is not a big cran-fan, but he loved it. I didn't bother with the sauteing bit, but just chopped an onion fairly small, pressed a couple of cloves of garlic, mixed everything up and poured it over the chicken. I used legs and boneless breasts and I was astonished at how juicy the breasts were! I lined my dish with non-stick foil so clean up was a snap. This is so easy to put together and it is definitely going in my "keeper" file. Thanks, DeidreDee!

Rosy Cider Jelly

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2006
I made this jelly last year, but I couldn't remember where I had gotten the recipe. Thank you, Regina, for submitting this as I would have been in BIG trouble if I hadn't made it this year! This is the easiest jelly I have ever made and everybody loved it. I gave it in holiday baskets and it is delish. The lovely rosy color is a plus too. Try this one; you won't be sorry.

Bar-B-Que Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2005
This is really great base for BBQ sauce; I gave it 5 stars because of that. It's fun to play around with because it is so easy. I like to add liquid smoke and a couple of sprigs of fresh thyme. You can make it as sweet or as spicy as you want! That's the beauty of it! Will be using this from now on. Thanx

Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2005
This is fantastic!!! My husband and I both loved it. It does make alot so I added cooked broccoli, red peppers, mushrooms, peas, zucchini, onions, and halved cherry tomatoes to a lb. of angel hair and tossed every thing together. It reheated very well as, without the cream, you don't have to worry about separation. We lived on it for a couple of days and were as happy as clams. Another advantage is the ease of proportion so you can make just as much as you need - even for a side dish. Oh, I also added some fresh garlic. My mouth is watering just thinking about this recipe. Excellent!!

Belle and Chron's Spinach and Mushroom Quiche

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2004
Best quiche ever!! I only had a cup of heavy cream so I used a half cup of milk and it was great. I used a deep dish pie crust and it was still a little too much so I put the rest of it into a ramekin and made a mini crustless quiche along with the other one. That way I could sample before serving! Yum!!

Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts with Shallots

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2004
My husband and I eat chicken alot and I am always looking for new ways to prepare it. I saw this, it looked fast and easy and I happened to have some shallots on hand so I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! It was easy, delicious and we both loved it. Will definitely make again.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
This is a wonderful bread!! It's only my husband and myself, but, since I first made it, I have to make a loaf every couple of days - my husband LOVES it for sandwiches. I did have to add a bit more flour and was a little leery the first time because the dough was so wet, but the loaf turned out gorgeous with a fabulous crust! I used 1 cup each; AP, WW and bread flours (just my personal preference). To all of you naysayers - Why do you cook? Personally, I cook for friends, family, myself and for the fun of it. I love trying new recipes and ideas. Some of you seem to feel that, if everything doesn't turn out perfectly according to the exact measurements and directions (no variations PLEASE!!), that the recipe is a flop and you will never try it again. I have one word of advice, people - Play With Your Food!! I guarantee you will have a lot more fun in the kitchen. Thanks for a great recipe, Tom!!

Crispy Gingersnaps

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2004
A friend and I had a sudden craving for these one day and I had never made them before. Of course I turned to Allrecipes to find a recipe. These were absolutely wonderful! The only things I did differently was grating a little fresh nutmeg in with the dry ingredients and flattening them out a little before baking - I just happen to like them very crispy. When you do that you really have to watch them carefully so they don't burn, but they were yummy! Definitely will be making these again. Thanks, Larry!

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
Fabulous!! I had never tried making pita bread before and I was thrilled. I used 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 all purpose and added a little more salt and some garlic powder. They came out perfectly (four minutes is just right), but I waited until the next day to write a review to see how they held up for the next day. Just as delicious! Thank you, I will use this recipe again and again.

Vegetable Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2004
This was a very good recipe, but it seemed to lack a little "zip". Next time I think I will try adding a little Worcester Sauce to give it a little pick up. Also I found that there was a bit of a floury aftertaste, so I think that I will either cut down on the flour or substitute corn starch.

Microwave Oven Peanut Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2002
Linda C. This recipe is marvelous. I don't have a candy thermometer and have, therefore, not have a whole lot of success "just winging it". This is such an easy and delicious recipe. I made three batches in an evening and will be giving it for Christmas. Plan on making MORE!! Thanks! chinasmom2000
