I just took these out of the oven about 20 minutes ago and ate one hot and one cooled - delicious! I made some changes to make them healthier - I used whole wheat flour, added about a 1/4c of oats, 1/2c of applesauce instead of oil, reduced choc chips to 1/2c and added 1/4c of walnuts. I also used brown sugar since I think it goes better with whole wheat flour. Next time I'll probably add some wheat germ and another 1/4c of oats. I was worried about the moisture the first time and didn't want too many additional dry ingredients. But I think this recipe can take it!
And as others pointed out there are a lot of choc chips in this recipe - I thought a 1/2c was borderline too much but I know my hubby will love it.
