My favorite things to cook
I have an obsession with my immersion blender - I use it for just about everything. I try to get at 2 servings of vegetables in every meal and think that tropical fruits (pinapples, mangos) are the bees knees. I'm not a great baker, have a hard time following instructions, and cook from my gut.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother makes an amazing red lentil soup, and every Christmas morning she makes a traditional swedish pastry. My father's grilled salmon in the summer is to die for, and my mother in law has the best potato salad.
My cooking triumphs
Poaching eggs! I thought it would be so much harder. Also, getting my picky husband to really enjoy healthy foods.
My cooking tragedies
A mousse that was more like a liquid disaster. It tasted delicious, if you're into eating cold chocolate soup.

Beef and Bean Chimichangas
I only gave this 4 stars because it's so delicious that it's not fair that it's so high calorie! My husband loves this dish, we eat it once a week and save extras for his lunch that he shares with his coworkers - they love it too! My favorite part about this recipe is the time the chimis spend in the oven is an opportunity to clean the kitchen, take a shower, or get something else taken care of before dinner starts. Very good, yum yum yum. My thighs love them too. Haha. :)

Hearty Lentil Soup
Due to the fact that I live in the middle of nowhere, I didn't use a parsnip, but didn't feel like it took away from the soup. Still absolutely delicuous, the worcestershire, red wine, and soy sauce really added that extra flavor that I am always looking for in my lentil soups.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)
Delicious. Used coconut oil instead of peanut oil, and made my own ginger-garlic paste. Also used chicken breast cut into cubes (my husband has an unhealthy fear of chicken thighs. . . strange). Also added some chopped peppers and some frozen peas at the end- gotta have my veggies! Really yummy, great consistency, highly recommended!
