Delish, but next time I will leave out the flour.

Veggie Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2013
Too salty. I would leave out the salad dressing mix and just use garlic powder and salt/pepper to taste with the dill. I pulsed the veggies in a food processor so it was easier to eat.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2013
Made this for dinner tonight. It was a hit. Not too thin, not too thick. I used 6T corn starch instead of the flour to be gluten free, will try arrow root powder (6T) next time. My family doesn't care for curry, so I used thyme instead.

Bacon for the Family or a Crowd

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2013
It was a little limp when following the recipe "as is", but then I started reading the reviews!! Worked great but I had to add about 10 minutes to the cook time. I used a lined Airbake cookie sheet with an edge, the Airbake may have made a difference too. I will bake at 400 next time. And add a minute at a time if it needs longer. Awesome way to cook up the whole package and have leftovers for other recipes or salads.

Napa Cabbage Salad with Lemon-Pistachio Vinaigrette

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2013
I had just bought a beautiful Napa cabbage at our farmer's market and this recipe looked like a perfect fit for it. I didn't have several ingredients on hand, so I did as a reviewer suggested and used this as a "base" - I actually used sunflower seed oil, apple cider vinegar, and sunflower seeds in this. Used Lemon Pepper for salt & pepper. Doubled the oil/vinegar mix as others had suggested. Still kind of bland, but it may be because I didn't make it far enough in advance for the flavors to really meld. Will try it again sometime.

Great recipe, had it for our Easter dessert. Everybody loved it. Will try it with chocolate drizzled over the top next time, just to make it prettier.

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
This was really tasty! I deglazed the pan with port wine (it was handy!), and added green beans in the last 1/2 hour of cooking. I cooked it for 1.5 hours and the meat was very tender. Lots of left over gravy, I think I will bump up the meat to 2# next time, and add double the potatoes and carrots. I used my homemade beef bone broth in this, really made for a robust gravy. Super meal for the sub-zero weather we're having right now.

Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2012
Made this tonight - very flexible with however much of each ingredient you have on hand. Didn't have tomatillos so I used poblano peppers that I had roasted. I also added pepper when I added salt. A big hit.

Roasted Beets and Sauteed Beet Greens

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2012
Loved that I could use ALL of the beet in this recipe. Next time I'll try evillhog's suggestions: "I roasted the beets in the oven as instructed but with potatos and carrots as well, then tossed them with a tiny bit of olvie oil and feta. I also added mushrooms and green onions to the beet greens when I sauteed them."

Baked Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2012
Big hit at dinner last night! Cut them into 3/4" chunks. Tossed to coat in pan as suggested. Instead of the spices recommended I used Kirkland's Tuscan Spice Blend liberally. Tossed them again, baked full 60 minutes and they came out beautifully browned and delicious.

Eggs In A Cap

I forgot a step - scrape the gills out of the cap using a spoon makes it easier for the egg to stay put.

Cucumber Tuna Boats

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
4 stars, 5 with my modifications. I added 1/2 tsp. dry, 1T chopped fresh basil, and didn't add the cheese. I did use the eggs, Salade Nicoise combines tuna and eggs and it's yummy! Anyhow, made the tuna salad the night before so the flavor could meld a bit. Split and seeded the cucumbers and put them in a baggie. Took it all to work and shared with friends. Served it with cheese sprinkled on top. I"ll make this again!

Anne's Gazpacho

I thought this was wonderful! I didn't use the eggs or the tomato paste, and for spices I used basil and tarragon. So pretty served in white bowls.

Whole Egg Mayonnaise

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2012
Mine is... OK. Looks perfect, but I think I goofed and used oil that I've had around for a bit - it just tastes funny, and not in a good way. I added more sea salt (about 1 t. Sel Gris Sea Salt) and will read more reviews, because I'm going to try again with FRESHER oil, and see what happens. Also going to get paper cups so I don't have to spend 10-15 minutes drizzling in the oil.
