Big Germans

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I have probably made this 30-40 times. It comes out wonderful if you read and follow the instructions. We just came back from or Lakehouse and I gave the last copy away. So I had to look it up and print some more copies. This is one of the best receipes on this site. Sure you can play around with the toppings and probably make it better to suit your taste. I normally make a starwberry topping and put whipped cream on it. As far as it not raising you have to melt the butter in the pan and then add the mixture. I always use a glass pyrex 9x13 and have never had a problem. I would like to thank JEANIE BEAN for sharing this wonderful receipe. Maybe some people have to have their oven calibrated. I promise if you follow the receipe people will want you to share it with them.

Heavenly Halibut

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
I do not rate too many recipes. This is by far one of the best recipes on this site. This is beyond resturant quality. Everytime I make this everyone has to have the recipe. I have not used Halibut, what ever kind of fish you are using should be a more firm fish. I use on stripped bass and it comes out wonderful. I have also tried cod and talapia it work really good too. One thing to keerp in mind if it is a thinner fish broil it for a shorter time. Do not over cook. The other thing I use is fresh grated parmesan. The Kraft bottled parmesan will not work. I can not imagine this being anything but 5 stars. Do not try this on salmon. It has to be a firm white fish. Enjoy

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
I have made these a few times now and everyone LOVES these. I tried as written and I have tried it with the breading then eggs wash and breading again. I like it the best with breading it twice (no egg wash) I bread it once put in the fridge for about 3-4 hours and bread again and the re fridge for another 3-4 hours. These are just 100% awesome. I tried the sauce today with 1/3 butter and 2/3 Franks buffalo hot wing sauce. It's all good. When I am making these for a crowd, I deep fry them the day before for 6-7 minutes @ 375. The next day I put them in the oven @ 375 for 10-12 minutes. Thanks for the recipe.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2008
I am not a big pea guy. I will not eat peas no matter how they are cooked. I love this receipe. I have made it 4-6 times and I get rave reviews. Anyone who does not think this receipe is a winner must of not followed the receipe. I did however use chicken broth the 3rd time I made it and I think it does taste better.A REAL GOOD RECEIPE, Thanks.

Reviewed: Mar. 21, 2006
Excellent recipe. I did make a cream sauce with the juice. I used canned chicken broth 14 oz. instead of bullion and water. I made a roux with 4 tbls of butter and 4 tbls. of flour. Cook for just a few minutes added the broth and kept addind remainder of chicken broth to desired consistency.poured it over the chicken really yummy. Great sauce for pasta. Overall a really good piccata recipe. Try it with veal "really good"

Caesar Salad Supreme

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2006
I have been using this salad dressing for over a year. It is absolutely the best tasting Caesar Salad Dressing PERIOD. I have read a few reviews that did not use "Real Mayo" or did not use anchovy. Was looking for a lowfat way to make it and rated it low. If you are not going to follow the recipe do not rate it. I myself do not care for anchovy and I did not tell my wife I used it or she would not have tasted it. She loves it and everyone that tastes it HAS TO HAVE THE RECIPE. Follow the directions and it is fabulous. That being said I did up the mayo to 1 cup and added 6 tablespoons of olive oil to the dressing so it is less thick. I followed the recipe the first couple of times and then modified it a pinch. This is one of the best recipes on this site. Thanks Karen. I also forgot to add. I put the anchovy, garlic, olive oil and parmesan cheese in a food processor and almost puree it. I think this really helps with those not liking anchovy.

Mom's Best Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: May 21, 2003
This is the best spaghetti sauce. My first two wives were italian. There spaghetti sauce was good. This recipe is as good or better. I did make a couple changes. I deleted the mushrooms my present wife hates mushrooms, I would like to keep her. I did not use the Parmesan cheese either. I did add crushed red peppers, a little fresh parsley and I know that oregano never goes in spaghetti sauce but I did the unthinkable(just a little). We usually feed the dogs the left over spaghetti, not this time. The dogs want me to go back to Prego, They love spaghetti. Great recipe THANKS.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2002
I have rated this recipe before and my rating disappeared. I have used this recipe about 6-8 times. It is absolutely one of the best on this site. Every time I make it everyone just loves it. I always use the low setting and figure about 16-18 hours the last 3 hours I put it on "keep warm" I probably triple the liquid smoke and found Hawaiian salt which really makes it good. Try It You Will Love It. So easy and SO GOOD.

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2002
This recipe was absolutely "THE BEST". I pride myself in my cooking abilites and working a recipe to fit my spicy taste. I really wasn't sure of the gravy directions. I followed this recipe to a "T" and is was the best chicken fried steak my wife or I ever had. I think I will subscribe to Southern Living if all their recipes are this good. Will use this recipe often.
