Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
Winner winner chicken dinner! Wow! We made this yesterday for a non-traditional Thanksgiving and I have to say wow. I've never made fried chicken, and to be fair, I only did the breading part while hubby did the frying. It was well worth the effort. And just as amazing today for leftovers! I went ahead and doubled the flour and seasoning so we could do the double-dip. Next time, I might add some more seasoning to the flour though. I WILL make this again. *We didn't make the gravy, so I can't comment on that part of the recipe.

Easy Peasy Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
The flavor of this was actually really good. However, I baked it covered in tin foil, so the chicken came out kind of gray-ish. Next time I'm going to brown it first in a cast iron skillet, then add the veggies and bake it in the skillet. But like I said, the flavor was good and it was pretty easy to throw together.

Ground Beef Yorkshire

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2011
Fairly easy to put together, and my whole family liked it. I had to throw the batter into my blender b/c the melted butter solidified when I added the cold milk, so I would suggest letting the milk come to room temp first. This was exactly what I had in mind when I was looking for recipes for dinner tonight.

Newport Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
TERRIFIC! I've never thought to make clam chowder before. This was so good even my kiddos ate it (two 8 yr olds and a 2 yr old!) I did add a jalapeƱo and scaled for 5 servings, and there's quite a bit leftover. This was better than every clam chowder I've ever had in a restaurant!

Salmon Cakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
These were a LOT tastier than I expected, but also more labor intensive. Plus I had to modify the amounts b/c I only had a small can of salmon. So I don't think the texture was quite right, they were extremely hard to make into patties. I ended up adding another egg and some flour just so they would hold together until I turned them. I DID add some minced garlic, onion, jalapeno and cilantro. Yum. Even the kids liked them!

Chompchae Deopbap (Korean Spicy Tuna and Rice)

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2011
Being that "heat" is a personal taste, I was surprised that I didn't find this as hot as I expected. My husband, who usually adds hot sauce to EVERYTHING, thought it was great the way it was. My 7 yr old boys even ate it! As usual, I didn't have all of the specific ingredients on hand, so I used the basics of this recipe and used the veggies and meat we did have. We'll make this again.

Ground Nut Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
I've never had African food, so I don't know what I was expecting. It was very tasty, but it was missing something. We just don't know what. We thought it was missing that "stewed all day long flavor." Next time, I'll cook the meat in the liquid, to see if that helps to mesh the flavors some more. Like I said, I've never tasted African cuisine, and I'm actually more accustomed to Asian flavors. This could be RIGHT ON for all in know. In any case, my family enjoyed it and my 7yr old twin boys said they'd eat it again...and THAT'S something!

Red Rooster

Two thumbs up! I had made a frozen version of this many years ago at Thanksgiving, so it was like slushie! Made this as a martini tonight and both my husband and I LOVE it. Will make again!

Milk Moose Punch

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
I made this on a MUCH smaller scale (serves 1) with 1 oz of each of the ingredients! I really like it, and wish I was at a Christmas party to share it with others!

Beef Asado

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
We will definitely make this again. We made it with a pork roast and added a couple of jalapenos, and ginger to suit our own tastes. Everyone loved it. I have now made this several times...it is easily my favorite recipe EVER! It's so easy to substitute to your own veggies and proteins. My brother made it with seafood once!
