Just a man lucky enough to have a mother who thought it would be a good idea to teach her son to cook for himself.
My favorite things to cook
I like Italian, Spanish, Greek, Mexican, Cuban, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese cuisine. I am particularly fond of simple three piece meals with a meat, vegetable and a starch -- generally I go with steamed broccoli and jasmine rice as sides.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from an Italian family, which means I know a lot of little secrets for preparing the perfect pasta.
My cooking triumphs
I discovered an apple-braised pork with red cabbage recipe that has become a favorite amongst my friends, and I am regularly asked to prepare it.
My cooking tragedies
I'm still trying to figure out how to cook chicken satay without setting the bamboo skewers on fire.
Also, early in the morning, sometimes I start making french toast and then forget what I'm doing and make scrambled eggs. Carmelized eggs are not good. I don't recommend them.
