Homemade Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2000
I guess I missed something here. My noodles turned out to be tough, little bits that, if not eaten, could substitutes for scrable tiles.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: May 17, 2000
OK, this is the best Marsala recipe we've ever tried. The second time we tried this recipe, I made a huge sandwhich with it. After slightly hollowing out a large loag of Italian bread, I first drizzled olive oil, placed a layer of provalone chesse, then the chicken, a layer of mozarella cheese folowed by the mushrooms, a few slices of red and green pepper, more provalone. Now squish everything down so the bread will close. Wrap the sandwhich in aluminum foil, and heat in a 350 degree oven till the cheese melts. Yummmmmmm!

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2000
I did not have cream cheese, so I added a tablespoon of flour to the shrimp/ mushroon mixture, sauted for a few minutes. Then I added chicken broth and cooked a few more minutes to thickened. WOW! Everyone loved this recipe.

Lithuanian Pork Spareribs and Sauerkraut Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2000
It is rich, and there is plenty of it, but the our slovaic family found this soup to be too flavorful for our liking. Consisering the cost of all the ingredients, I don't think we'll try it again.

Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2000
These are great. To prevent the roll from seperating, I skip the softened butter and substitue milk before dprinkling the cinnamon on top the unbaked dough.

Shepherd's Pie II

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2000
What a nice, homey kind of meal. Like the reviewer before me, I floured the browned meat, used onion soup mix, but replaced the water with a can of beef broth. The nutmeg and sage lend a nice addition. I happen to have fresh sage growing in my backyard, and it was put to good use in this comfort food.

Basic British Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2000
Overall this is a nice recipe, but I found the flavor and texture a little disappointing. I served these to my friends who have enjoyed other scones in my reciipe, and the politely said, " I like the others better".

Auntie's Buttermilk Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2000
I've tried this recipe twice. Once in a 13x9 inch pan and once in a bundt pan. Each time additional time of up to 15-20 minutes was required to bake batter completely. My family and friends thought this cake was not their favorite. I don't think I'll try it again.

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2000
Definitely a 5 recipe card review. Works well with non-fat sour cream and non-fat mozarella. I used "Mom's Best Spaghetti Sauce " with this, minus the meatbalss, and increased the garilc by several cloves. Half of the recipe is enjoyed by my family, and the other half goes into the freezer or to a friend. Freezes well. You gotta try this one!
