I don''t know if I would use the term expert. Maybe "experimental" would be better. I love trying new things and am constantly on the look out for new recipes. I read through cookbooks like they were The Great Novel. I do have a pretty good reputation as far as cooking goes and the ultimate compliment is someone asking for my recipes!

Appetizers top my list! The only thing I want to bring home is a dirty plate

Southern all the way! I try to infuse some new dishes into the mix, but always fall back on the old favorites! Arteries Beware!

I've won both a rib and chili cookoff, but it's the little things like trying to come up with something sensational for my next dinner club or Stew and Brew parties that drives me!

Merritt's Butternut Squash Gratin
This was delicious and fairly easy to make. The prep time cutting the squash was really the longest part. This heated up well for leftovers, too.

Flat Iron Steak with Three Pepper Rub
This was wonderful. Proportions were perfect for 2 Flat Iron Steaks. Grilled over Mesquite wood chunks and served in corn tortilla with fresh guacamole, black bean-corn-pico de gallo, and lime. Key when cutting Flat Iron is to cut on the bias. Doing this makes meat very tender. Also, don't forget to let it rest up to 5 minutes after taking off the grill to retain juices. GREAT RUB!
