Animal Crackers

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2015
After seeing the nasty reviews I decided to add brown sugar (1/4 cup to doubled recipe) and nutmeg and vanilla, omitting honey. I cut round biscuits rather than shapes, and they baked up great, but sure enough, tasted like nothing. BUT thanks to some cream cheese icing I had, made them into AMAZING sandwich cookies! Would make them again with double the sugar and hopefully won't need icing. Three stars only because the recipe needs tweaking but is a good basic recipe.

Spiced Yogurt Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2014
I loved the simplicity! Made this twice, and the recipe adapts to substitutions easily! The first time, I added pears and blueberries to the top (simmered with brown sugar briefly first), followed the rest exactly, baked for an extra 10 min in two loaf pans... Gooey fruity and spicy! The second time, used lime flavoured yogurt, lemon extract instead of vanilla, skipped the spices, added a few spoons of unsweetened flaked coconut, with coconut sprinkled on top... Tropical poundcake! Omg can't wait to experiment more. Always keep (freeze) your expired yogurt/sour cream for recipes like this! I freeze one loaf and we eat the other.

Garlic and Herb Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2011
I used this recipe mainly as a guide for the liquid ingredients; then reduced the water and added some lemon juice. For LAMB steaks I used fresh parsley, rosemary, and mint (lots of mint!) from my little indoor herb planters. Smells heavenly, can be varied indefinitely with whatever you have!

Chinese Chews I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2011
No need to roll these treats...I cut these into mini-squares and that's it! Maybe they were too difficult to roll because I used 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of chopped pecans. The end result has a consistency like a brownie. Definitely a keeper in my regular recipes!
