Bacon-Flavored Dog Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
I made these for my family for their dogs at Christmas. They were easy to make.....but they gave all the dogs the runs.

Spinach Garlic Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
Pretty good, I added a squeeze of lemon and some pepper with parm cheese on top. You could even add a bit of salt if you really wanted. It's good by itself, however the only complaint I got was...."where's the meat?" Chicken would be best, cooked in white wine with garlic and rosemary.

Red and Green Christmas Jalapeno Jelly

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
I used this recipe as the basis for making cayenne jelly spread (I grow my own cayenne). I added a little more bell peppers, one jalapenos, and about 4 fresh cayenne peppers. I lightly processed them so it wasn't like a paste.....more like salsa. I also used one package of powder pectin. I would maybe add another half pack if you want a it to be more gel-like. Mine, with one package, was like syrup, but great over a bagel and cream cheese or in a chicken sandwich.

Norwegian Waffles

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2011
Really good! I like whole wheat, so I substituted a 1/2 cup of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. The batter was really thin so the next time I made it, I cut down the milk to 1 1/2 cup. It's still pretty runny still so pour less batter than you think you need. I think I would cut the salt down a bit as well.

Zucchini Alfredo

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2011
Thought it was pretty good. I used ~1/4 cup dried basil since I didn't have fresh. I HIGHLY suggest adding a squirt or two of lemon juice. It really helps the overall taste. Also I add a chopped dried cayenne pepper for a little kick. I agree with most of the other posts. You need to double the garlic. I also added 1/4 chopped onion as well. And once again, remember to add some lemon!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
Fairly good. I wouldn't say it was as good as restaurant egg drop soup I've had, but it was a a great quick lunch. Just a few things, I didn't have chicken broth, so I used bouillon cubes. DON'T add salt if you use the cubes. Also, I had a plethora of green onions and they worked great for substituting for chives. I suggest adding white pepper if you have any. It tastes great in the soup.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2012
Really good and huge hit with the roommies. I didn't have much artichoke so I add more spinach, still great! I will probably use the same recipe to make just a straight hot spinach dip.

Orange Drop Cookies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
Great recipe, had plenty of frosting. I added some cream cheese to make the frosting not so sweet. I'd probably make more of a cream cheese frosting next time. Still a great and easy recipe.

Slow Cooker Chili II

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2011
This is a great basic chili recipe and can be easily adapted for with what's available to you! I didn't have bell peppers, but I threw in a jalapeno pepper and a couple yellow wax peppers in (it's what I had). Since they are all hot peppers I decrease the chili powder to 1 tsp. Also, I suggest adding about 1-2 tsp of taco seasoning to the ground beef while you are cooking it. There is a great taco seasoning recipe on Allrecipes. Just look for it. Great with corn chips (I fried up my own out of corn tortilla)

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Excellent! Both of my roommates hate rhubarb, but they liked it a lot. The recipe is super sweet so I would cut down on the white sugar to 3/4 cup. Eat with ice cream for the perfect dessert!

Chocolate Texas Sheet Cake

Reviewed: May 28, 2011
The cake was perfect! However the frosting was too sweet and I only used 1 and half cups confectioners' sugar. I added cream cheese to tone down the sweetness and thicken it up the rest of the way. I also substituted 2 of the TBS of milk with Amaretto.

Good, just needs to be baking at a lower temperature for longer. Split half white half brown sugar, but the baking time is still about an hour.

Spiced Baked Apples

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2011
I used gala apples, the work just as well if not better. It's always a huge hit when I make them. Put a thin slice of butter over the top of each apple before popping them in the oven.

Best Ever Jalapeno Poppers

Really good! I grow my own jalapenos and they were great! It's true that they need a little heat, but that's easy to fix. I even used some yellow wax peppers and they were equally good!

Lime Honeydew Sorbet

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
I thought the combination sounded nommy, but my fiance was skeptical. I can proudly say that it was delicious and my finance was won over. He keeps asking me when I'll make it again. If you are using real limes to juice, roll between your hand and a hard surface. It makes it easier to juice when it's cut it open. We also thought it might be good with a bit of vodka or tequila. ;)

Mexican Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2011
Very good. I have made it several times, always with success. It is especially good if you add shrimp. Also, I add on fresh, finely chopped cayenne pepper. It gives it an extra kick. If you don't like things too spicy (like me) only add half a pepper. Pop the pepper in when you put in the salt and cumin.

Winter Melon Meatball Soup

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Being the typical American, I find most Chinese soups a bit bland, however this one was quite good. It's a traditional Chinese soup and the taste was great and the meatballs were excellent. There was a bit missing, even after adding Chinese mushrooms, water chestnuts, and some tofu (I like "stuff" in my soup too). The pickled eggs would have been a perfect addition and will be sure to add them next time. My roommate normally hates traditional Chinese foods, however I sold her on this one. I do suggest adding a pinch of white pepper when you dish up.
