Orange Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
While it wasn't intolerable, the glaze was more of a cream and not nearly as dark as most Orange Sauces. The only things changed were lessened the amount of sugar and added crushed red pepper to make it spicy. The spice was a nice touch, though the sauce was still a bit too sweet. Needs a better orange kick as well.

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2008
Everyone loved this at my house. I had to sub the Romano cheese, so I used Asiago instead - very flavorful and tasty. The Asiago is a bit sharper than the Romano, as evidenced by the smell - but delicious. Can't wait to try it with the Romano. Nice and thick sauce, and plenty of it as well.

Banana Crepes

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2007
This is a fantastic recipe! The crepes come out perfect. I've used several types of fruit (drizzled with honey) for the filling and also one of the homemade whipped topping recipes from this site. Always a HUGE hit! Try this for presentation: Place about 1 Tbls of the cinnamon caramel sauce on the place, then place the crepe flat while it's still hot, add about 2 Tlbs of fruit filling, another Tbls of whipped cream. Fold in two sides of the crepe and place an uncut strawberry or banana slice on top. Drizzle with more caramel sauce and serve. You're guests will love it.

Berry Cobbler

It's a great cobbler "cake" recipe. I added extra blackberries in the mix and then topped with red raspberries before baking for a decorative touch.

Best Cocktail Meatballs

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2002
Overall not a bad recipe. I made this for dinner last night. Very easy to make. I would have left it cooking in the slow cooker longer though, maybe even overnight to really let the sauce cook in. Turn it on low heat and leave it for the next night. I too added the extra lb. of ground beef, I don't think it would have stayed together otherwise. Then for the sauce you'll need to double the sugar and ketchup. Instead I left the ketchup and sugar as it was and also added 1 can of crushed pineapple and 1 cup of my favorite BBQ sauce. The sauce was great, but next time I might add some crushed red pepper or hot sauce to it as well. It is a fantastic base recipe though, better than buying frozen meatballs, and if you just play with it a bit to get it how you really want it, it'll be your favorite meatball recipe.

Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
A really good recipe for lasagna. Very easy to make. I used the suggestion of sausage instead of hamburger meat. That worked very well, but I am going to try the hamburger next time for the texture. Definitely needed A LOT more pasta sauce. If you are going to try this, triple what the original recipe calls for in this regard.

Caramelized Apple Bites

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
Great recipe. I sauteed the apples first in butter, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar and after about 5-7 mins when they were tender I mixed them in the caramel mixture. Served them with christmas dinner and they were the best 'baked' apples ever.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2001
Fantastic cake! Everyone loved it. Followed the recipe, but used the coco powder instead of the flour and it worked beautifully. Added a dusting of powdered sugar and red and green decorative icing around the base to give it a christmas feel. Will be making this cake again.

Sizzling Chicken Skewers

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2001
This is an amazing recipe! While you prepare it you wouldn't believe it would turn out as good as it does. Nice and spicey and well worth any effort it takes cooking it. Definitely broil or grill it.
